About the Amazon Recruitment  Bursary programme. 

In 2018, the Amazon Development Centre introduced the Amazon (Software Development Engineer) Recruitment Bursary, which is intended for individuals from underprivileged backgrounds who would like to pursue their studies in tertiary. The bursary covers all costs involved and offers selected candidates a paid summer internship at Amazon in order to be evaluated for a full-time permanent position as a Software Development Engineer (SDE).

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing an undergraduate qualification in the following fields:

• Computer Science
• Computer Engineering
• Software Engineering
• Information Technology
• Information Systems

AMAZON RECRUITMENT BURSARY PROGRAMME COVERS THE FOLLOWING EXPENSES:

1. Tuition
2. Accommodation (Private and University Residence) 
3. Personal Allowance 
4. Study materials
5. Laptop
6. Transport

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AMAZON RECRUITMENT BURSARY PROGRAMME

To qualify for the Amazon Recruitment bursary programme, you must meet the following requirements:

• You must be a South African citizen
• You must be studying one of the above mentioned degree qualifications
• You must be entering into your final year of a three-year degree OR the third year of a four-year degree in 2025.
• You must be studying at a recognised and registered tertiary institution in South Africa
• If you are studying a three-year degree programme, you must be committed to return to education to complete an Honours degree in 2026.
• You must be a strong academic performer with an average of 65% and above. 
• You must be interested and motivated to work for Amazon and in the field of software development engineering. 

AMAZON RECRUITMENT BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

• Certified copy of applicant's ID
• Certified copy of applicant's Matric certificate and full academic records/transcripts
• Proof of combined household income
• Proof of residence
• Clear head and shoulder picture

CLOSING DATE:

The closing date for the Amazon Recruitment Bursary programme applications for the 2025 academic year is the 30th of September 2024. Successful applicants must complete an internship (during summer vacation), and participate in training opportunities at Amazon. Successful applicants must commit to accepting a full-time permanent role if an offer is extended following the internship assessment.
