Canyon Coal is inviting students for their bursary program for the 2024 academic year. Applicants have until the 30th of January 2024 to submit their emailed applications.

About the Canyon Khanye Coal Mine Bursary

The goal of the Canyon Coal bursary program is to improve access to higher education to economically disadvantaged students. The program addresses the need for qualified professionals in South Africa's mining industry.

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing or want to pursue an undergraduate qualification in the following fields:

• Mining Engineering 
• Electrical Engineering
• Metallurgy
• BSc Mine Survey
• BSc Geology
• Environmental sciences
• Safety Management
   

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CANYON KHANYE COAL MINE BURSARY

To qualify for the Canyon Khanye Coal Mine Bursary you must meet the following requirements:

• Must be a South African citizen or naturalized South African citizen 
• Must have completed Matric OR in matric 
• Must be studying or intend to study in one of the above listed qualifications
• Must be accepted or provisionally accepted at a South African accredited university or University of Technology.
• Must have an interest in the mining industry.
• If currently studying at a tertiary institution; must have achieved 65%+ for all major subjects.
• Must have a STRONG academic record.
• Priority will be given to female students and disabled students.
• Must demonstrate financial need. 
• Preference will be given to applicants who have applied to study at their local tertiary institutions
• Preference will be given to disadvantaged applicants from the Bronkhorstspruit area.

• Accommodation
• Book Allowance
• Full Tuition

CANYON COAL KHANYE COLLIERY BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

• Certified copy of South African ID of Applicant
• Certified copy of South African ID of Applicants parents/legal guardians. 
• Certified copy of applicants June Examination results.
• Certified copy of applicants of December final examinations. 
• If currently studying; Full academic record. 
• Certified copies of proof of registration or acceptance letter
• Certified copy of fee statement. 
• Proof of income of Parent/Guardian (payslip not older than 3 months) If unemployed; Affidavit confirming unemployment OR Proof of state grant (e.g. SASSA letter); if applicable. OR a certified copy of  financial balance sheet attached, if the parent/ guardian is self-employed
• Motivational letter stating why you should be considered for this bursary, include academic ability financial need and future goals.
• Proof of residence.

CLOSING DATE:

The closing date for the Canyon Khanye Coal Mine Bursary is on the 30th of January 2024. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Should you not receive correspondence from canyon coal mine (Khanye) 14 days after the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
