About the CPGR Bursary

The goal of the CPGR Bursary is to foster the growth of skills and capacities among scientists and to establish a community of empowered scientists who can effectively assist South Africa’s aspirations to become a leading bio economy. The bursary emphasizes on funding qualifications that will produce significant scientific research findings, and help with the solutions of biological and biomedical issues.

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who want to pursue or are pursuing a postgraduate qualification in the following fields: 

• BTech/Bsc Hons OR MSc OR PhD Bioinformatics
• BTech/Bsc Hons OR MSc OR PhD Human Genetics/Genetics
• BTech/Bsc Hons OR MSc OR PhD Molecular/Cell Biology
• BTech/Bsc Hons OR MSc OR PhD Biotechnology 
• BTech/Bsc Hons OR MSc OR PhD Biological Science 
• BTech/Bsc Hons OR MSc OR PhD Medical Biochemistry 
• BTech/Bsc Hons OR MSc OR PhD Medical Bioscience 
• BTech/Bsc Hons OR MSc OR PhD Microbiology/Biochemistry 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CPGR BURSARY

To qualify for the CPGR Bursary you must meet the following requirements:

• Must be between the ages of 18 to 29 years
• Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
• Must be studying OR intend to study one of the above listed postgraduate qualifications.
• Must be studying OR accepted to study at a recognised and accredited university 

CPGR BURSARY COVERS:

• Tuition fees
• Registration fees
• Prescribed materials

NOTE: The CPGR Bursary may be a full or partial cover of the above expenses.

CPGR BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

• Certified copy of South African ID 
• Full academic Record 
• Proof of Address
• Proof of disability (if applicable)
