The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) is inviting you to apply for their undergraduate and postgraduate bursary programme for the 2025 academic year.

About the DALRRD Bursary programme:

The DALRRD bursary programme aims support and develop future leaders in agriculture by providing financial aid. The programme empowers students passionate about agriculture to pursue the necessary education and training. This ensures a pipeline of skilled professionals equipped to address the challenges and opportunities within South Africa's agricultural sector. The bursary programme contributes to the overall growth and development of South Africa's agricultural industry, potentially leading to increased food security and economic benefits.

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing or want to pursue an undergraduate/postgraduate qualification in the following fields:

• Agricultural (Bio resource) Engineering (BSc Eng.)
• Agronomy (BSc Agric)
• Entomology (BSc Agric)
• Food Science (BSc Agric)
• Food Science and Technology (BAS)
• Food Technology (Diploma)
• Geo-Informatics/ Geographic Information Science (BSc)
• Geomatics/ Land Surveying/ GIS (National Diploma/ Bachelors Degree)
• Land Surveying/ Geomatics (BSc)
• Pasture Science (BSc Agric)
• Plant Pathology (BSc Agric)
• Soil Science (BSc Agric)
• Town/ Urban and Regional Planning (National Diploma/ Bachelors Degree)
• Town/ Urban and Regional Planning (BSc)
• Veterinary Science (BVSc)
• Viticulture and Oenology (BSc Agric)

NB: Postgraduate applications will be considered for DALRRD priority research projects (Advance Diploma/ B Tech/ BSc Hons, MSc/ DTech/ PhD)

DALRRD BURSARY PROGRAMME COVERS THE FOLLOWING EXPENSES:

• Tuition
• Accommodation
• Allowance 
• Books
• Meals

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DALRRD BURSARY PROGRAMME:

To qualify for the DALRRD bursary programme, you must meet the following requirements:

• You must be a South African citizen
• You must be studying towards an undergraduate qualification in the fields listed above.
• You may NOT be a staff member of the DALRRD

• If applying for postgraduate bursary programme, you must be studying or intend on studying full-time, towards one of the postgraduate qualifications listed above, in 2025

DALRRD BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

• Certified copy of applicant's ID
• Certified copy of applicant's Matric certificate and/or full academic records/transcripts
• Proof of combined household income
• University acceptance letter
• Certified copy of parents/legal guardian ID copies
• Death certificates (If applicable)
• Certified copies of qualifications
• SASSA confirmation letter (If applicable)
• Proof of unemployment obtainable from the Department of Labour (If applicable)

The closing date for the DALRRD bursary programme applications for the 2025 academic year is the 30th of September 2024. Please note that communication will be limited to successful applicants only. If you have not received any communication from the department within 14 days after the release of Grade 12 results and after the National Bursary Committee has finalised the selection process, consider your application unsuccessful
