The Department of Transport, in collaboration with UNISA, is inviting students to apply for their bursary program for the 2024 academic year. Applicants have until the 3rd of February 2024 to submit their emailed applications.

About the Department of Transport UNISA Bursary

The Department of Transport UNISA Bursary aims to assist individuals in reaching their academic and higher education goals within the transportation sector. The goal of the UNISA Bursary is to empower people and support the development of a more innovative and dynamic transportation industry in South Africa additionally; the bursary attempts to develop the next generation of workers capable of meeting South Africa's transportation needs by providing assistance to students pursuing relevant professions.

 

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to UNISA students who are pursuing an undergraduate/postgraduate qualification in the following fields:

  • BCom Transport Economics
  • BCom Logistics
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering
  • Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering
  • Honours Transport Economics
  • Honours Logistics 

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT UNISA BURSARY

To qualify for the DOT UNISA Bursary you must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen 
  • Must be under 35 years of age
  • Must have completed Matric 
  • Must be CURRENTLY studying at UNISA 
  • Must be registered to study one of the above undergraduate/postgraduate qualifications
  • Must NOT be employed 
  • Must have achieved a minimum of 50% in previous study year
  • If you are a  returning bursary applicant; must have passed 50% or more of your previous registered modules to be considered for new funding. 

 

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT UNISA BURSARY COVERS:

  • Tuition fees
  • Prescribed textbooks 

Note: The bursary does NOT cover failed modules. 

 

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT UNISA BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • Certified copy of South African ID 
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate/senior certificate 
  • Certified copy of latest academic record or transcript on institutions letterhead (with university logo)
  • Proof of income for person responsible for your needs (Parents/legal guardians)

Note: Certified copies must not be older than SIX months
