FEM Bursary applications are open for 2024 academic year. Applicants have until 20 December 2023 to submit their funding applications. Applications received after this date will not be considered.

About FEM Bursary

The FEM Bursary Programme is a financial assistance program offered by the FEM Education Foundation (FEMEF) to support South African students pursuing degrees in specific fields. Established in 1997 as a non-profit organization, FEMEF aims to improve the quality of education in South Africa by investing in promising individuals.

 

COVERED FACULTIES

The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing undergraduate courses in the following faculties:

  • Faculty of Engineering
  • Faculty of Built Environment​
  • Faculty of Health Sciences

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FEM BURSARY

To qualify for the FEM bursary you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be studying full-time, towards an undergraduate qualification within one of the fields of study listed above
  • You must have completed your first year of study (bursaries will NOT be awarded to first year students and postgraduate students)
  • You must be studying at an accredited public University in South Africa
  • You must have a total household income of NOT more than R360 000 per year
  • You must have a strong academic record
  • You must NOT have any outstanding fees at your university from previous years
  • You must be in financial need and not able to fund your own studies
  • Preference will be given to students from disadvantaged backgrounds

 

 FEM BURSARY COVERS THE FOLLOWING:

  • Tuition fees,
  • Textbooks and other study materials
  • Accommodation
  • Meals
  • A monthly living allowance
  • Transport (where required)

 

FEM BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • Your certified ID Document or birth certificate if you are 16 years old
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate
  • Certified copy of Full academic record
  • Proof of tertiary registration
  • Detailed CV
  • Certified ID copy of parents or guardian
  • Parents or guardians proof of income (latest payslips or bank statements if employed, affidavit if unemployed, affidavit if an informal worker, proof of SASSA grant/ disability grant/ other grant or pension if applicable, death certificate if deceased, divorce certificate if divorced)

 To apply for the FEM Bursary for 2024, follow the easy steps below:

Step 1: Visit the FEM website at: https://fembursaries.simplify.hr/Vacancy/75274

Step 2: Scroll down and click on the "APPLY" tab

Step 3:  Fill in your personal details 

Step 4: Attach the supporting documents

Step 5: Then click on "Submit Application

All applications should be submitted online. Applications not submitted online will not be considered for funding.
