Goldfields TVET College has officially opened its second semester applications for 2025. If you're looking to pursue a career in Business Studies, now is the time to apply. Applications are open from 1 April 2025 and will close on 30 April 2025.
The Welkom Campus is located in the heart of Welkom and operates in a simulated working environment. This includes practical setups for hospitality and edu-care students with tools and spaces that mimic real-life workplaces such as restaurants, hotels, bars, and daycare centres.
Facilities include:
The campus enrolls approximately 4,500 students each year and offers both NC(V) and Report 191 programmes. There are also plans to reintroduce a public-facing restaurant that allows students to gain entrepreneurial experience by running a real business as part of their coursework.
These programmes are aimed at equipping students with workplace-ready skills to help them secure employment or further their studies.
To be admitted into Goldfields TVET College's second semester programmes, you must meet one of the following:
1. NC(V) Level 4 Certificates in:
2. An equivalent NQF Level 4 occupational qualification
3. An APS score as per the specific course requirement (see APS calculation below)
Goldfields TVET College uses different APS methods depending on the qualification you're applying for. Here’s how to calculate it:
Method: Double English + Next Best NSC Subjects
Multiply your English percentage by 2, then add your best remaining subjects (excluding Life Orientation). Divide the total by 10.
Subject | % | Calculation |
---|---|---|
English | 57 | 57×2 = 114 |
Subject 1 | 55 | ÷10 = 5.5 |
Subject 2 | 54 | ÷10 = 5.4 |
Subject 3 | 48 | ÷10 = 4.8 |
Subject 4 | 65 | ÷10 = 6.5 |
Total APS: (114+55+54+48+65) ÷ 10 = 34 |
Subject | % | Calculation |
---|---|---|
English | 40 | 40×2 = 80 |
Accounting | 41 | 41×2 = 82 |
Subject 1 | 50 | ÷10 = 5 |
Subject 2 | 48 | ÷10 = 4.8 |
Total APS: (80+82+50+48) ÷ 10 = 26 |
National Certificate: Management Assistant N4–N6
National Certificate: Business Management N4–N6
