What does my application status mean at University of Johannesburg (UJ)?

What does provisionally selected mean at UJ?

Provisionally selected mean that you have met the basic requirements for admission to the course you have applied for, but you still need to meet certain conditions in order to be fully admitted. Does provisionally accepted mean accepted? No, you are not accepted, provisionally acceptance is not the final status. This is a temporary status which is subject to change at a particular date based on space availability and if all requirements have been met.

If you are still in grade 12 and you receive a "provisionally selected" status it means that UJ is still waiting for your final grade 12 results. Should your final grade 12 results not meet requirements, you will be rejected.

Those who already have National Senior Certificate a "provisionally selected" status means that they need to meet other requirements such as passing an NBT, interview or audition.

What does it mean when UJ puts you on a waiting list?

If UJ puts you on a waiting list, it means that you have met all the requirements for admission to the program, but there are not enough spaces available for you to be admitted immediately. You will be ranked on the waiting list based on your results.

If a space becomes available in the course you have applied for, you will be contacted and offered admission. However, it is important to note that there is no guarantee that you will be admitted from the waiting list. The number of spaces that become available varies each year and depends on a number of factors, such as the number of students who withdraw from the course.

What does not admitted mean at UJ?

"not admitted," status means that your application to study at University of Johannesburg has been denied. There are number of reasons for this status such as, not meeting the requirements and lack of space availability. Being rejected at UJ is not the end of the world. You can apply again the following year but you need to make sure that you meet the requirements and you apply early.

What does pending status mean at UJ

Pending status at UJ means that your application is still being processed. The admissions office is currently reviewing your application and has not yet made a decision. If your application is in pending status, there is nothing that you need to do. Your status will be updated if they have reached a decision.

What does Admitted mean at UJ

Admitted at UJ means that you have met all of the requirements for admission to the course and you can register for the admitted programme for a particular academic year. You will receive a letter from the admissions office confirming your full admission status.

What does Orange Carpet Admitted mean at UJ

This means that the applicant is permitted to register for a particular programme for a particular academic year/intake during the period that has been approved for such registration and obtain the status of an Orange Carpet Student, after complying with the applicable registration requirements. This applies to the applicants who have their final grade 12 results.

What does Orange Carpet Selected mean at UJ

If you meet the Orange Carpet criteria based on your Grade 11 results, you may be awarded "Orange Carpet Selected" status. If you still meet the Orange Carpet criteria and the minimum requirements for the course you have applied to based on your Grade 12 results, you will be awarded "Orange Carpet Admitted" status. If you no longer meet the Orange Carpet criteria based on your final Grade 12 results, you will be "admitted" to the program, "waitlisted" or "rejected".

What is the difference between accepted and provisionally selected?

The main difference between accepted and provisionally accepted is that accepted means that you have met all of the requirements for admission to the course and you can register for classes, while provisionally accepted means that you have met the basic requirements for admission to the course, but you still need to meet certain conditions in order to be fully admitted.

Here is a table that summarizes the key differences between accepted and provisionally accepted:
