About the Investec Tertiary Bursary

The Investec Tertiary Bursary Programme seeks to bridge the financial gap for deserving students while simultaneously building a strong talent pool for the financial sector in South Africa. The program specifically targets academically gifted South Africans facing financial limitations. This focus ensures that talented individuals from all backgrounds have the opportunity to pursue higher education and contribute meaningfully to the economy.

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who want to pursue or a pursuing an undergraduate qualification in the following fields:

  • Actuarial Science (only first year students already at university will be
    considered unless studying towards a Business Science degree at UCT)
  • B Com Informatics
  • B Sc Computer Science
  • B Sc Information Technology
  • Bachelor of Information Technology
  • Bachelor of Information Science
  • Commerce (Economics, Business Economics, Accounting, Investments and Finance)
  • Business Science
  • Science and Mathematics
  • Engineering
  • Commercial LLB
  • Degrees towards Medicine (MBCHB)
     

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE INVESTEC TERTIARY BURSARY

To qualify for the Investec Tertiary Bursary, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • You must currently be in matric OR completed matric and in your first year of study 
  • Applicants currently in matric and applicants who already completed matric should have obtained at least 50% in all their subjects with a minimum of 70% in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and 70% in English FAL or 65% in English HL.
  • Applicants currently in their first year must have averaged above 60% in the first semester examination.

NB: Bursaries will only be offered to applicants who are currently in Grade 12 or in their first year of university.

 

INVESTEC TERTIARY BURSARY COVERS: 

  • Investec offers a full bursary per year towards study-related expenses

 

INVESTEC TERTIARY BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • Your certified ID copy
  • This year’s mid-year (first semester academic record) results
  • A progress report (final grade 11 report if in grade 12)
  • Official Matric/ NSC results if you have completed Grade 12
  • Pay slips for your parent(s)/guardian if employed (or letter from employer and sworn statement or tax return statement stating income)
  • Latest financial statements if your parent/guardian is self-employed
  • Sworn affidavits if your parent(s)/guardian is/are unemployed
  • Death certificates if your parent(s) is/are deceased
  • Divorce certificate if your parents are divorced
  • Sworn statement from one parent if your parents are separated

Applications for the Investec Tertiary Bursary are submitted online via the Study Trust online application platform. Interested and qualifying applicants can follow these easy steps below to get started with their online applications for the 2025 academic year,

NOTE: When completing the application form, please clearly specify the exact degree programme for which you need a bursary, the name of the educational institution where you plan to study and the year of study.
 

CLOSING DATE:

The closing date for the Investec Tertiary Bursary for the 2025 academic year is the 30th of September 2024. Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted. Changing your degree programme after submitting your application form may lead to a cancellation of the bursary, if granted. No bursaries are available for private tertiary institutions.
