Applications for Knysna Municipality Bursary are now open for the 2025 academic year. Interested individuals have until 14 February 2025 to apply. This bursary programme which offers financial assistance to deserving students pursuing studies in scarce skill areas

 

Knysna Municipality Bursary - 2025 Online Applications 

About the Knysna Municipality Bursary:

The Knysna Municipality, located in the heart of South Africa's Garden Route, is committed to fostering education and addressing the skills shortage within its community. The Knysna Municipality Bursary was established to support students in the Knysna Municipal District who are struggling to pay for their higher education. The bursary concentrates on scarce skills qualifications such as science and engineering to encourage the development of a competent and skilled labour force in the town and the larger community.

 

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing or want to pursue an undergraduate qualification in the following fields:

  • Science
  • Engineering 

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE KNYSNA MUNICIPALITY BURSARY

To qualify for the Knysna Municipality Bursary you must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must be studying/intend on studying any course in the field of science and engineering in 2025
  • Must be accepted/provisionally accepted or registered at a South African accredited higher education institution, including TVET colleges. 
  • Must reside within the Greater Knysna Municipality, in the Western Cape 
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Preference will be given to applicants that are from disadvantaged communities. 

 

 KNYSNA MUNICIPALITY BURSARY COVERS:

  • Registration fee
  • Portion of tuition fees (not a full bursary)
  • Capped book allowance
  • Examination fees
  • May include accommodation (where a proven need exists).

 Note: The bursary award is partial and will only cover a certain percentage of the above expenses. 

 

KNYSNA MUNICIPALITY BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • Certified copy of South African ID of Applicant
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate/statement  
  • Latest academic record (if currently studying)
  • Proof of acceptance/registration for 2025 academic year.
  • Proof of ALL household income  (payslips not older than 3 months) If members of household are unemployed; Affidavit confirming unemployment OR Proof of state grant (e.g. SASSA letter).
  • Banking details of institution on institutions letterhead.
  • Proof of residence
