NWU FACULTIES

The NWU has eight faculties and the NWU Business School offers a huge variety of undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications through contact and distance learning. These faculties are:

The NWU’s Unit for Distance Learning (UDL) is the second largest provider of open distance learning programmes in South Africa.

In addition, the unit delivers the University Preparatory Programme (UnivPrep ), a one-year programme for prospective students who do not meet the minimum requirements for degree studies.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN APPLYING AT NWU 


REQUIRED DOCUMENTS 

In order for your application to be considered, please upload the following supporting documents. If the application is incomplete, it may be declined by the University:

  • grade 11 final results (final results only)
  • copy of your matric certificate - if you have already passed matric.
  • Applicants who are currently upgrading their grade 12 results, will only be considered after the improved results are presented to the NWU.
  • Completed undertaking form
  • Copy of your ID

All other selection courses: 30 June 2023

STEP BY STEP GUIDE ON HOW TO APPLY AT NWU 

HOW TO APPLY ONLINE
Step 1: Go to the online application platform https://vssweb.nwu.ac.za/aaa-webclient/StudentWebLoginWin.do#/top
Click on New application
Click on Create new student number and complete all the fields
Allocation of a student number does not mean that you have completed the application process. 
Go through all the steps below to ensure that your application is complete and that it reaches nwu.

Step 2: Log in with a student number and pin you created.

Step 3: Complete all the required fields. Use the yearbooks to obtain more information about the qualifications, modes of delivery and curricula.

Step 4: Upload supporting documents and make sure that the documents you submit are certified and scanned.

Step 5: Submit application and ensure that you press the Submit application button when you have finished. Incomplete applications will not be processed by the University.

Student Life

Residence and Accommodation

The North-West University offers a wide range of high-quality accommodation on and off-campus. Residential Services is responsible for the smooth operation of the residence complexes on each of the NWU campuses in Mahikeng, Potchefstroom and Vanderbijlpark.
