About the Old Mutual Imfundo Trust Scholarship programme:

The Old Mutual Imfundo Trust Scholarship programme is a commitment to investing in the youth and nurturing their aspirations through the power of education and opportunity. The scholarship programme offers full financial backing and addresses the skills gap and shortage of black investment professionals. The Imfundo scholarship programme aims to grow the available range of qualified individuals in the asset management industry.  

 

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who want to pursue or are pursuing an undergraduate/postgraduate qualification in the following fields:

  • Business
  • Climate studies* 
  • Commerce
  • Computer Science and related fields.
  • Data Science
  • Engineering 
  • Finance
  • Management Science/Studies. 

*NB: Postgraduate applications will only be considered for Climate Studies. 

 

OLD MUTUAL IMFUNDO TRUST SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME COVERS:

  • Accommodation
  • Book Allowance 
  • Spending Allowance
  • Tuition

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE OLD MUTUAL IMFUNDO TRUST SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME. 

To qualify for the Old Mutual Imfundo Trust Scholarship programme, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • You must be in matric or have completed matric
  • You must be in your first or second year of study in 2025 (except Climate Studies postgraduate students)
  • You must be studying or accepted to study a qualification in one of the above listed fields.
  • You must have a strong academic record/results.
  • If currently in matric, you must have achieved a minimum average of 70% in your mid-year examinations, with a minimum of 70% in Mathematics and English FAL or 60% in English HL. 
  • If currently studying, you must have achieved a minimum of 65% in your mid-year examinations.
  • You must be a hard worker with a logical and creative mind.
  • You must be passionate about your chosen career field and you must have integrity, tenacity and resilience. 
  • Applicants from rural/township backgrounds will be given first priority. 

 

NB: The scholarship covers studies at the following universities

  • Stellenbosch University
  • University of Cape Town
  • University of the Witwatersrand
  • University of Johannesburg
  • University of KwaZulu Natal 
  • University of Pretoria 

 

OLD MUTUAL IMFUNDO TRUST SCHOLARSHIP REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • Certified copy of applicant's ID
  • Certified copy of applicant's Matric certificate and academic record.
  • Proof of combined household income

The closing date for the Old Mutual Imfundo Trust Scholarship for the 2025 academic year applications is the 10th of October 2024.
