The South African Nursery Association (SANA) is accepting applications for their bursary program for the 2025 academic year. SANA Bursary aims to cultivate the next generation of professionals dedicated to enhancing and preserving South Africa's natural beauty

 

SANA Bursary - 2025 Online Applications 

About the SANA Bursary:

The South African Nursery Association Bursary is intended to assist enthusiastic students who want to study a qualification in landscaping and horticulture. Through providing tuition aid, the bursary wants to develop the upcoming generation of experts in the green industry, benefitting  the business as a whole by guaranteeing a trained staff committed to creating colourful landscapes and inspiring a love of plants. This bursary program also provides free student membership, enabling bursary beneficiaries to engage with a larger industrial network, and build their careers. 

 

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing an undergraduate/postgraduate qualification in the following fields:

  • Horticulture 
  • Landscaping 

NB: Postgraduate students (PhD, Masters and BTech) will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SANA BURSARY

To qualify for the South African Nursery Association (SANA) Bursary you must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must be studying towards a qualification in the above listed fields. 
  • Must be pursuing an undergraduate/postgraduate qualification 
  • Must have completed all modules of first academic year of study
  • Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 60% for the first academic year of study 
  • Must be registered for 2025 studies at an accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  • Must be a student member of SANA or must apply to be a member of SANA (you can find the application form HERE)

 

SANA BURSARY COVERS:

  • Tuition fees

 

SANA BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • Certified copy of ID
  • Photograph of yourself (selfie/ portrait photograph/ student card photo)
  • Current academic record
  • If you are not a SANA student member, Completed South African Nursery Association Student member application form 
  • Certificates of all previous studies completed
  • Tertiary institution’s banking details
  • Proof of tertiary registration for 2025
  • Completed bursary application checklist which can be found HERE 
  • SANA Membership Application form (if you are not already a member)
  • Motivational letter answering the following questions: (How do you see your career in the green industry developing? Have you done any community volunteer work? If so, where and for how long and what was your experience of it? Have you been involved in the horticultural industry? If so, were you a volunteer or employed and what where the main lessons learnt through that experience? Have you visited any nurseries? If so, where and what would you say was the most impressionable? What is the distance to your nearest nursery and what is it called?)

 

How to apply for the SANA Bursary for the 2025 academic year

To apply for the South African Nursery Association (SANA) Bursary you must download the bursary application form HERE. complete the form and attach all the required documents and submit via the following channels:

CLOSING DATE:

The application deadline for the 2025 SANA Bursary is 31 March 2025. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for interviews with SANA representatives in their respective areas, typically scheduled for April each year. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications well before the closing date to ensure consideration.
