The South African Society for Animal Science (SASAS) is excited to accept applications for their 2024 postgraduate bursary program for the 2024 academic year. Interested students have until the 29th of February 2024 to submit their applications via email.

About SASAS Bursary

The South African Society for Animal Science (SASAS) aims to encourage postgraduate education into Animal Production and Animal Science and contribute to the expansion and competitiveness of the South African agriculture sector.  Additionally, the bursary aims to bridge the skills gap between industry demands and a trained workforce empowering students interested in the fields while creating a future in which animal research in South Africa positively impacts economic growth and the welfare of animals.

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing a postgraduate qualification in the following fields:

• Animal Science 
• Animal Production 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SASAS BURSARY

To qualify for the SASAS Bursary you must meet the following requirements:

• Must be a student member of the SASAS (apply HERE to be a member) 
• Must have graduated at a South African university - Nationality is not a restriction. 
• Must have graduated with a BSc (Agric.) in Animal Science or Animal Production or a Advanced Diploma in Animal Production (NQF8)
• Must be a postgraduate student who is registered to do an Honours or a Masters degree in Animal Science / Animal Production at a South African university or registered to do a MTech or DTech at a University of Technology 
• Must be an excellent academic performer (cum laude).

SASAS BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

• Certified copy of the graduation certificate for degrees already obtained by the applicant.
• Certified copy of official statement of all subjects and symbols already completed (undergraduate/ postgraduate) where applicable.
• Recommendation by study leader
