The University of South Africa has released a list of their courses currently open for late applications for the 2025 academic year. Who Can Apply at UNISA for 2025 Late Applications 

These students can apply at UNISA for late applications:

  • South African citizens and international applicants.
  • First-time Unisa applicants who missed the initial application window.
  • Returning Unisa students who want to change their qualifications or reapply after an interruption in studies.

 

Requirements of Diploma Courses Available for Late Applications at UNISA 2025

  • Diploma in Local Government Finance

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) (Diploma endorsement) with at least 50% in the language of teaching and learning and with at least 40% in Mathematics or at least 70% for Mathematical Literacy,

OR

a Senior Certificate (SC) with at least a D symbol on HG or a C symbol on SG in the language of teaching and learning and with at least an E symbol on HG or D symbol on SG in Mathematics,

OR

any Higher Certificate obtained in the College of Economic and Management Sciences.

 

  • Diploma in Information Technology

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) (Diploma endorsement) or equivalent with at least 50% in the language of teaching and learning, 50% in Mathematics or at least N4 Mathematics passed with a minimum of 50% and N4 English, or N4 Communication, or N4 Communication Technology passed with at least 50%,

OR

a Senior Certificate (SC) with at least a D symbol on HG or a C symbol on SG in the language of teaching and learning, and with at least a D symbol on HG or a C symbol on SG in Mathematics, and a D symbol on HG or a C symbol on SG in Physical Science, if any Physics or Chemistry modules form part of the curriculum of a selected qualification, or at least N4 Mathematics passed with a minimum of 50% and N4 English, or N4 Communication, or N4 Communication Technology passed with at least 50%,

OR

a Higher Certificate that satisfies the Mathematics and Language requirement.

 

  • Advanced Diploma in Accounting Sciences Certificate in The Theory of Accounting

An appropriate Bachelor's degree in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent, with modules on NQF level 6 in the fields of Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing and Taxation,

OR

any Bachelor's degree and a completed Advanced Certificate in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent.

An appropriate Diploma in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent, with modules on NQF level 6 in the fields of Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing and Taxation,

OR

an appropriate Bachelor's degree in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent, with modules on NQF level 6 in in the fields of Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing and Taxation,

OR

any Bachelor's degree and a completed Advanced Certificate in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent.

 

  • Advanced Diploma in Accounting Sciences Internal Auditing

An appropriate Diploma in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent, with modules on NQF level 6 in the fields of Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing and Taxation,

OR

an appropriate Bachelor's degree in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent, with modules on NQF level 6 in in the fields of Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing and Taxation,

OR

any Bachelor's degree and a completed Advanced Certificate in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent

 

  • Advanced Diploma in Accounting Sciences Management Accounting

An appropriate Diploma in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent, with modules on NQF level 6 in the fields of Financial Accounting, Business Management, Auditing and Taxation,

OR

an appropriate Bachelor's degree in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent, with modules on NQF level 6 in in the fields of Financial Accounting, Business Management, Auditing and Taxation,

OR

any Bachelor's degree and a completed Advanced Certificate in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent

 

  • Advanced Diploma in Accounting Sciences Taxation

An appropriate Diploma in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent, with modules on NQF level 6 in the fields of Financial Accounting, Auditing and Taxation,

OR

an appropriate Bachelor's degree in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent, with modules on NQF level 6 in in the fields of Financial Accounting, Auditing and Taxation,

OR

any Bachelor's degree and a completed Advanced Certificate in Accounting Sciences or its equivalent

 

  • Advanced Diploma in Safety Management

An appropriate 360 credit Diploma in Safety Management or its equivalent,

OR

an appropriate 360 credit Diploma with a major in any management field.

 

  • Advanced Diploma in Education in Intermediate Phase Mathematics Teaching

A four-year Bachelor of Education degree with Mathematics completed up to second year level,

OR

A general first degree or diploma, plus a Postgraduate Certificate in Education with Mathematics completed up to second year level,

OR

a general first degree or diploma plus a former Higher Diploma in Education (Postgraduate) with Mathematics completed up to second year level.

OR

A former cognate Advanced Certificate in Education (Level 6 on the former 8-level NQF)

OR

a former cognate Further Diploma in Education which follows a former professional teaching qualification,

OR

a former cognate four-year Higher Diploma in Education.

OR

a new cognate Advanced Certificate (Level 6 on the current 10 level NQF) which followed a former Diploma in Education (including a National Professional Diploma in Education) may also be presented for admission in an Advanced Diploma.

 

  • Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering in Telecommunications

An appropriate 360 credit Diploma or National Diploma in Engineering Technology in Electrical Engineering,

OR

an Advanced Certificate in Engineering Practice in Electrical Engineering at NQF level 6,
from an accredited provider of higher education,

OR

a national or international equivalent qualification at NQF level 6 in the appropriate field.

 

  • Advanced Diploma in Industrial Engineering

An appropriate 360 credit Diploma or National Diploma in Industrial Engineering,

OR

an Advanced Certificate in Engineering Practice in Industrial Engineering at NQF level 6,
from an accredited provider of higher education,

OR

a national or international equivalent qualification at NQF level 6 in the appropriate field.
Applicants who do not comply with the above requirements should consider applying for a lower level qualification for which they meet the statutory and additional requirements.

 

  • Advanced Diploma in Mining Engineering

An appropriate 360 credit Diploma or National Diploma in Engineering Technology in Mining Engineering,

OR

an Advanced Certificate in Engineering Practice in Mining Engineering at NQF level 6,
from an accredited provider of higher education,

OR

a national or international equivalent qualification at NQF level 6 in the appropriate field.
