The University of Witwatersrand, commonly known as Wits, is a leading research-intensive university located in Johannesburg, South Africa. Established in 1896, Wits is one of the oldest universities in South Africa and is ranked among the top universities in Africa and the world.

Academics: Wits offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across five faculties: Commerce, Law, and Management; Engineering and the Built Environment; Health Sciences; Humanities; and Science. UNIVERSITY OF VENDA CAMPUSES 

The University has only one main campus that is located in Thohoyandou. The Campus houses all eight facilities they have. The campus also houses the Art Gallery, which has a display of carvings, paintings and clay pots made by both students and the local community members. 

Furthermore, the campus has a full-time Sport Center that is used for indoor sports as well as other recreational activities such as drama and DANCE. The main campus houses 11 of the twelve official residences.

THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING AT UNIVEN
1. GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

First, you have to make sure that you meet the admission requirements of the programme of your choice. Admission requirements can be found under study programmes in a prospectus. You should meet both Univen minimum requirements and required APS.

APS and minimum requirements go hand in hand. APS is used by Universities to determine whether you qualify for admission to their courses. Meeting of the minimum requirement does not guarantee an applicant admission to any programme.

2. THINGS YOU WILL NEED TO APPLY SUCCESSFULLY 

  • A valid email address
  • A valid cellphone number
  • South African applicants will need an ID number.
  • Foreign applicants will need their passport number.
  • credit / debit card with cv number to pay R100 application fee online.

3. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS 
Certified ID copy 
Certified matric certificate/statement of results 
Grade 11 final report/results
Transcript of academic record and certificate of conduct
Degree(s)/Diploma certificates
SAQA Evaluation Certificate (If you are an international applicant)

4. APPLICATION FEE

University of Venda application fee is R100 and is non refundable. You will be required to pay the application fee online during the application process. You have to have your debit or credit card ready when starting the application process. You can't submit the application without paying the application fee online. 

5. OPENING AND CLOSING DATE 
Note that Applications for the academic year 2023 are open. All applicants must apply online using the Univen application system iEnabler. The closing date is 31 December 2022.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO APPLY AT UNIVEN ONLINE 

Step 1: Click here to apply, accept the application rules and click "continue"

Step 2: Capture your biographical information and click "next" to proceed with your application;

Step 3: Pay the application fee of R100 online.

Steps to pay the application fee online

PAYMENT PROCESS FOR ONLINE APPLICATION

Step 1: Amount to be paid: R100-00

Step 2: Click on the option which says “pay by credit card” for payment by credit or cheque card.

Step 3: Enter the following credit/cheque card details

Card Number
Card Holder Name
Expiry date: Months and Year
CVV Numbers: the last three digits at the back of the card

Step 4: Click on PAY NOW

Step 5: You will get a screen which says, “Authentication is required for the purchase”. From this screen there will be a message saying:
"To proceed with your purchase, please submit the One Time Password (OTP) that has been sent to your cell phone" 
Enter the One Time Password (OTP) on the space provided and click NEXT

Step 6: You will get a screen with the following message: Successful E Payment, press exit. You will immediately receive a payment receipt notification from the Univen support via email address you provided stated as follows “Thank you we have received your application fee. You can return to the Online application web page and continue your application”.

Step 4: Capture results details then add subjects and click "next";

Step 4: Capture educational institution detail and click "next";

Step 5: Capture academic application details (choose 2 choices/programmes you wish to apply for), click on "add qualification" and thereafter click "next";

Step 6: Verify/Check your application details then click "continue";

Step 7: Create your 5 digit PIN (e.g 24689), click "I accept"(twice) checkbox thereafter click "Submit Application";

Step 8: Upload your documents, select "yes" on the dropdown list if all your documents are ready to be uploaded and then click "next";

Step 9: Click "Load/View Document" >> "Upload document" >> "Choose/Browse file" go to the folder where your documents are stored, choose the relevant document and click "save";

Step 10: Once all documents have been uploaded click "complete upload";

Step 11: Confirmation Page, end of application

During online application process, you may save and return at a later stage to complete the application.

Applicants (undergraduate/postgraduate/international applicants) who experience challenges when applying online, the following arrangements have been made to ensure that they apply and have their applications processed.

• Applicants can download applications from the Web, complete and personally submit hard copies of application forms to: University of Venda; New Student Administration Building; Cubicles Number – 1 or 2 or 3.
• We will accept hard copies of application forms sent through post.
