The Africa Cosmos Education Trust was established with a clear mission: to empower the youth of South Africa through access to quality education. FIELD OF STUDY

The Africa Cosmos Education Trust Bursary Programme for the 2025 academic year is open to students who want to pursue or are pursuing an undergraduate qualification (Bachelors Degree/ National Diploma/ Advanced Diploma/ Postgraduate Diploma/ National Certificate), in the following field of study:

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AFRICA COSMOS EDUCATION TRUST BURSARY

To qualify for the Africa Cosmos Education Trust Bursary, you must meet the following requirements:

• Must be a South African citizen
• Must be unemployed 
• Must not be older than 35 years 
• Must be currently in your 1st year of study in 2025
• Must be studying or intend on studying a qualification in one of the above listed fields.
• Must be studying at a recognised and accredited higher  institution in South Africa
• Must not amend your course without prior written consent from the Trust.
• Must achieve and maintain acceptable (pass) results for the duration of your course of
  study and you will be required to provide regular reports in this regard.
• Must maintain an acceptable attendance record at the Education Institution registered and comply with University Policies and Procedures.
• Must not accept any other Bursary or other form of financial assistance from any other company
  without the prior written consent of the Trust.

AFRICA COSMOS EDUCATION TRUST BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

• Completed Bursary Application Form
• Certified Copy of ID of applicant (No longer than 3 months)
• Certified Copy of ID of applicants' parents/guardians (No longer than 3 months)
• Proof of address
• Affidavit (If parent(s)/guardian(s) are unemployed)
• Pay slips (If parent(s)/guardian(s) are employed)
• Proof of monthly household income & dependents
• Monthly budget (income and expenses)
• Academic transcripts OR Matric Results
• Copy of loan/bursary agreement (if receiving other sources of funding)
• Preliminary acceptance letter or proof of registration from an accredited tertiary institution
• Tax Invoices indicating tuition fees, prescribed textbooks and accommodation (if applicable)
• Testimonial from Principal/Teacher (Optional)
• Police clearance or affidavit from SAPS stating candidate has no criminal record

• Attach your certified documents
• Send your bursary application via email or be hand delivered to SBV House
• Applications that are submitted via email must be submitted as a single PDF document.

Instructions to complete and submit the application form

• Ensure that all fields are completed, and all supporting documentation is attached.
• Use CAPITAL BLOCK LETTERS when completing the document in a black pen.
• All copies of supporting documentation must be certified (no longer than 3 months old) to be true copies of
  the originals thereof.
• Incomplete application forms will not be considered.
• All requested information must be submitted, or an explanation must be given as to why you cannot provide
  it.
• Indicate when the outstanding documentation will be available. Any outstanding documentation must be submitted as soon as it becomes available.
• Once registered, Accreditation number of course to be submitted.
• You will not be reminded to submit any outstanding documents.
• Do not attach original documents. Only certified copies must be supplied, as submitted documentation will
  not be returned to the applicant.
• A clear passport or ID-size colour photograph of you must be attached to the front page.
• Arrange the documents in the order that it appears in the checklist.

CLOSING DATE:

The closing date for the Africa Cosmos Education Trust Bursary for the 2025 academic year is 24 March 2025. Late and incomplete applications will not be allowed. The Bursary is awarded for the full academic period (year) at a single academic institution. 

Once funded, you will be required to participate in programs offered by the Africa Cosmos Education Trust. Bursary recipients will be required to sign the bursary policy and commit to it, agree to the work back obligation which is aligned with the University class schedule.

Applicants are advised to carefully consider the above prior to submitting their application as the
Bursar follows a stringent selection process.
