CAO NOW OPEN FOR LATE APPLICATIONS

CAO (Central Application Office) 2024 late applications are officially open from the 20th of January to 31st of March 2024. Individuals who were not able to apply in in 2023 are now given an opportunity to submit their applications at CAO for admission. 

CAO comprises of 4 major public universities in Kwazulu Natal and numerous private colleges. In this blog we will focus on the late applications of four major universities namely; University of Kwazulu Natal, University of Zululand, Durban university of Technology and Mangosuthu University of Technology.

How to apply through CAO for late applications online

 Step by Step Guide on How to Apply Online through CAO for 2024 late applications

All first year applications are submitted through the Central Applications Office (CAO). This is a simplified way of applying for more than one programme and more than one institution using one application form, and paying a single application fee. 

Step 1: Visit the CAO website: www.cao.ac.za and click on the apply tab, then click on apply now.

Step 2: Enter your ID number or your Cao number.

Step 3: Enter your personal details then proceed, you will then get your Cao number and password 

Step 4: Capture your next of kin details 

Step 5: Enter your grade 11 results or your grade 12 results 

Step 6: Choose the courses you want to apply for (you can choose up to 6 choices) 

Step 7: Save your Cao number, password and the number to pay the application fee) 

Step 8: Upload the required documents. After submitting your documents you can exit the application process.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 

Does CAO accept late applications?

Does CAO accept late applications? Yes, CAO does accept late applications but late applications are only considered if there are still spaces available in the programmes concerned. CAO can only accommodate a limited number of students per course. 

What is the late application fee for CAO 2024?

The late application fee for CAO (Central Application Office) in 2024 is R420. You can pay the late application fee online or through EasyPay at Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, Woolworths or any store displaying the EasyPay sign. Card payments can also be made at the CAO's office. The CAO office does not accept cash. The payment reference is your CAO Reference Number. 

Does CAO allow walk ins in 2024?

CAO does not allow walk-ins for late applications in 2024. All late applications should be submitted online on the CAO website at www.cao.ac.za.

How to track CAO late application status

Visit the CAO website and click on check application status tab. You will then be required to enter your CAO or ID number. After entering your ID or CAO number you will be able to see your application status. If you have applied using a form, monitor your emails for feedback. Keep in mind that CAO late applications will only be considered if there are still spaces available in a particular faculty. Keep an eye to the CAO website for updates regarding late applications.
