The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) has officially opened applications for its 2026 bursary programme, designed to support unemployed students pursuing built-environment qualifications at public higher education institutions.
What Does the Bursary Cover?
This bursary is comprehensive and aims to reduce the financial burden so you can focus on your studies. It includes funding for:
- Tuition fees – covering your academic costs in full.
- Prescribed textbooks – essential learning materials.
- Accommodation and meals – so you have a safe place to live and study.
- Transport fees – subject to certain conditions.
- Research allowance – available only for Masters and PhD students.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizen
- Currently unemployed
- Planning to study a built-environment qualification at a South African public university or TVET college
- Minimum overall average of 50% in your previous studies
- Total household income less than R600,000 per annum
Required Documents
Prepare the following certified documents for your application:
- Certified copy of your ID
- Matric certificate or statement of results (first-year applicants)
- Latest tertiary academic record (if you’re in your second year or beyond)
- Proof of acceptance from your institution (for both new and returning students)
- Certified copies of parents’/guardians’ IDs
- Parents’/guardians’ proof of income (latest payslip or affidavit)
- Affidavit confirming your unemployed status

- Only online applications via INDICIUM will be accepted – emailed applications will not be considered.
- All attachments must be clear and complete.
- Only studies at public institutions are eligible.
- This bursary is only for the 2026 academic year.
