Coastal KZN TVET College offers NATED (N1-N6) courses in various engineering fields and a Multi-Disciplinary Drawing Office Practice (MDDOP) course.

1. Civil Engineering (N1-N6)

Duration: 3 months per level

Campuses: Umlazi-V (N1-N3) and Swinton (N1-N3, Plumbing only)

Entry Requirements:

  • For N2: Grade 12 with Mathematics & Technical Drawing (Minimum 40% pass)
  • For N3: Civil Engineering N2

Subjects include: Mathematics, Building Drawing, Building Science, and specific trade theories.

 

2. Electrical Engineering (N1-N6)

Duration: 3 months per level

Campuses: Appelsbosch, As-Salaam, Durban & Swinton

Entry Requirements:

  • For N2: Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science (Minimum 40% pass)
  • For N3: Electrical Engineering N2

Subjects include: Mathematics, Industrial Electronics, Engineering Science, and Electrical Trade Theory.

 

3. Mechanical Engineering (N1-N6)

Duration: 3 months per level

Campuses: Appelsbosch, Durban & Swinton

Entry Requirements:

  • For N2: Grade 12 with Mathematics & Technical Drawing (Minimum 40% pass)
  • For N3: Mechanical Engineering N2 or NCV Engineering & Related Design Level 4

Subjects include: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing & Design, and various specialized trade theories.

 

4. Multi-Disciplinary Drawing Office Practice (MDDOP)

Duration: 3 months per level

Campus: Durban

Entry Requirement:

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics or N3 Engineering Certificate with Mathematics and Technical/Engineering Drawing
  • Computer literacy and personal computer recommended

Subjects include: Mechanical Draughting, General Draughting, and Structural Steel Detailing.
