Admission Requirements for DUT 2026 Courses

To qualify for admission to DUT courses, applicants must meet the following general requirements:

For Bachelor's Degrees

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Bachelor's Pass
  • English Language Proficiency (minimum level 4)
  • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy (specific requirements vary by course)
  • Additional subject requirements as specified for individual courses

For Diplomas

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Diploma Pass
  • English Language Proficiency (minimum level 3 for Home Language or level 4 for First Additional Language)

How to Apply for DUT 2026 Applications

Applications for the 2026 academic year follow a straightforward process through the Central Applications Office (CAO):

  1. Visit the CAO Website: Go to www.cao.ac.za to start your application
  2. Create an Account: Register with your personal details
  3. Complete the Application Form: Fill in all required information
  4. Select Courses that you want to apply for.
  5. Upload Required Documents:
    • Certified copy of your ID document
    • Certified copies of academic results
    • Additional documents as required for specific courses
  6. Pay the Application Fee: Complete payment through available methods
  7. Submit Your Application: Finalize and submit before the deadline
  8. Track Your Application: Monitor the status through your CAO account

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) 2026 applications opened on the 1st of March 2025 and close on the 30th of September 2025. Late applications are usually accepted after the 30th of November but you will have to pay a late application fee of R470 for South African prospective students. You are therefore advised to make use of this amazing opportunity and apply on time to secure your space.
