About the EMedia Bursary:
The eMedia Bursary Programme aims to provide financial support to deserving South African students who are passionate about pursuing careers in the media industry. By offering bursaries in media industry the programme seeks to nurture and develop talent within the country's media sector.
This initiative not only alleviates the financial burden on students from households earning less than R600,000 per annum but also promotes inclusivity by encouraging applications from candidates with disabilities. Through this commitment, eMedia aims to foster a diverse and skilled workforce that reflects South Africa's demographic profile and contributes to the growth and transformation of the media landscape.
FIELD OF STUDY
The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing or want to pursue an undergraduate qualification in the following fields:
- Electronic Media
- Animation
- Graphic Design
- Television Production
- Radio Production
- Film & Television
- Marketing
- Media Research
- Digital Media Technology
- Sound Engineering
- Any Film and Television-related qualification (Except Performing Arts / Acting / Music and Dance)
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE EMEDIA BURSARY
To qualify for the eMedia Bursary you must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must have completed Matric
- Must have achieved an average of 65% or higher in high school.
- Must be between 17 and 35 years old.
- Must be studying/intend on studying any course in the field of film and television in 2025
- Must be accepted/provisionally accepted or registered at a South African accredited university
- Must be enrolled in a full-time course of study.
- Candidates with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
- Combined household income must be less than R600,000 per annum
EMEDIA BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- A certified copy of a South African Identity Document
- Statement of results or National Senior Certificate (NSC)
- Proof of acceptance from a South African university
- Curriculum Vitae
- Breakdown of annual academic fees
- Most recent payslip(s), letter(s) of employment, and the latest three months' bank statements (not older than three months) for each parent or guardian
- If receiving other private or public bursary funding, a commitment letter stating the funding source and coverage amount
NOTE: Applications received without all required supporting documents will not be considered.
