About the Imerys Refractory Bursary
The goals of the IEMRYS Refractory Bursary is to relieve academically deserving students - especially those from poor backgrounds - of the financial burden of tertiary education so they can concentrate on their studies and meet their academic objectives. Their aim is to invest in the training of highly qualified individuals in disciplines such as mining, mineral processing, engineering, and science that are relevant to Imerys Refractory Minerals' operations.
FIELD OF STUDY
The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing or want to pursue an undergraduate qualification in the following fields:
- Analytical Chemistry
- Accounting
- Electrical Engineering
- Engineering N courses
- Environmental Sciences
- Finance
- Geology
- Human Resources
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Safety Management
- Supply Chain
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE IMERYS REFRACTORY BURSARY
To qualify for the IMERYS Refractory Bursary you must meet the following requirements:
- Must have completed Matric
- Must be employed at IMERYS Refractory Minerals South Africa OR a child/dependant of an employee at IMERYS Refractory Minerals OR reside in Thabazimbi,Skierlik,Smashblock, Northam in Limpopo.
- Must be studying or intend to study towards a qualification in the above listed fields.
- Must be studying or accepted at a registered accredited South African institution.
IMERYS REFRACTORY BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Certified copy of South African ID
- Certified copy of Matric certificate/results
- If currently studying; academic record.
- Acceptance letter
- Motivational letter
- Proof of residence
How to apply for the IMERYS Refractory Bursary for the 2025 academic year
Applications for the IMERYS Refractory Bursary can be sent through the following ways:
- Applicants who are IMERYS Refractory employees:
Obtain a copy of the application for skills development from the members of the skills development committee or at the site HR representative's office. Before applying, you must also review the required learning and development policies, which are available from the site HR representative or the GDrive policy library. After completing the form; give the HR person your full application and an acceptance letter from your university.
- Applicants who are NOT IMERYS Refractory employees:
