IUCMA Bursary

Inkomati-Usuthu Catchment Management Agency (IUCMA) is offering bursary opportunities to deserving students who are pursuing or want to pursue undergraduate studies. Applicants have until the 2nd of February 2024 to submit their applications through email, post or hand delivery.

About the IUCMA Bursary

The IUCMA bursary program attempts to address the lack of qualified professionals required to manage the Inkomati-Usuthu catchment area by offering financial support to students pursuing degrees in relevant fields like Water Resource Management, Environmental Science, Geography and Agriculture.

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing or want to pursue an undergraduate qualification in the following fields:

• BSc/B Degree in Environmental Science
•  BSc Hydrology/Water Resource Management
•  BSc Chemistry, Biochemistry and Microbiology
• BSc Geohydrology, Geomorphology and Botany 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE IUCMA BURSARY

To qualify for the IUCMA Bursary you must meet the following requirements:

• Must be a South African citizen
• Must have completed Matric 
• Must reside in Mpumalanga Province (within IUCMA’s Water Management Area)
• Must have achieved a minimum average of  65% in Matric
• If currently studying; must have achieved a minimum average of 60% in the last academic year.
• Must be studying/intend on studying a degree qualification within the above mentioned fields.
• Must be studying or intending on studying at a university or University of Technology in South Africa.
• Must not be a beneficiary of any other funding including NSFAS
• Females and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply. 

IUCMA BURSARY COVERS:

• Registration 
• Examination fees
• Tuition fees
• Prescribed textbooks 
• Meals
• Accommodation
• Stipend 

IUMCA BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

• Certified copy of South African ID 
• Certified copy of Matric certificate 
• Academic record- if currently studying 
• Proof of residence from Local Municipality or Headman/Chief
• Acceptance/ Provisional acceptance letter
• Proof of income from parents or guardians (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed)

Certified copies must not be older than THREE months

How to apply for the IUMCA Bursary - 2024

To apply for the IUMCA you can collect the application form from the IUMCA offices in Nelspruit , Piet Retief/Usuthu and Bushbuckridge OR you can download the form HERE. After obtaining the application form, fill complete the form and gather all the required documents and send the form and the documents via post, email or hand delivery.
