The KwaZulu-Natal Government is offering bursary opportunities for students residing in the province who wish to pursue higher education in 2025, closing date 28 February 2025. KwaZulu-Natal Government Provincial Bursary 2025

The Bursary opened on the 31st of January 2025 and closes 28 February 2025. The bursary covers tuition fees, accommodation, meals/stipends, and prescribed textbooks where necessary.

Application Requirements for the KwaZulu-Natal Government Provincial Bursary 2025

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  • Completed bursary application form (Available at Operation Sukuma Sakhe War Rooms, Department of Education District Offices, Student Funding Offices, local municipalities, libraries, and the KZN Provincial Government website and Facebook page).
  • Certified copies of ID (including parents' or guardians' ID or death certificates where applicable).
  • Certified copy of matric certificate and latest academic transcript (if currently studying).
  • Proof of income (parent/guardian payslip, pension receipt, affidavit, or letter from the Department of Labour if unemployed).
  • Proof of residence (from ward councillor).
  • Acceptance letter from an institution of higher learning or proof of CAO application.
  • Certified copy of profiling certificate (if applicable).

 

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the bursary, applicants must:

  • Be South African youth between the ages of 18 and 35 residing in KwaZulu-Natal.
  • Possess a matric certificate (Grade 12).
  • Have an acceptance/provisional acceptance letter from a public higher education institution.
  • Be currently enrolled in or intending to study one of the specified fields.

 

Important Dates

  • Opening Date: 31 January 2025
  • Closing Date: 28 February 2025

 

Key Notes to Applicants

  • It is the student’s responsibility to secure admission and accommodation at a tertiary institution.
  • Successful applicants will enter into a contract equivalent to their study duration.
  • Bursary recipients are required to work for the respective department for the same duration as their bursary period.
  • Only successful candidates will be contacted. If you do not receive a response within four months after the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
  • Preference will be given to students studying at institutions within KwaZulu-Natal.
  • Youth with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
