Minimum Entry Requirements

The requirements differ depending on whether you completed your matric before or after 2008.

1. Applicants with Matric Before 2008

  • Senior Certificate (Grade 12 / Std 10)
  • Minimum of 25 points
  • English: E (Higher Grade) or D (Standard Grade)
  • Biology / Physical Science / Physiology: E (Higher Grade) or D (Standard Grade)
  • Mathematics: E (Higher Grade) or D (Standard Grade)

 

2. Applicants with Matric From 2008 Onwards

  • National Senior Certificate – Diploma pass or higher
  • Minimum 25 APS points
  • English: Level 4 (Home Language or First Additional Language)
  • Home Language: Level 3 (if English is not your home language)
  • Mathematics: Level 3 or Maths Literacy: Level 5
  • Life Sciences or Physical Sciences: Level 4
  • Life Orientation: Level 4 (compulsory but not scored)
  • Any two other subjects

 

Additional Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen (proof required)
  • Proof of residential address (affidavit if not in your name)
  • Applicants must be medically fit to study and work in the nursing profession
  • Preference is given to applicants from KwaZulu-Natal
