The Nelson Mandela 2025 late registrations are open for both new and returning students. NMU 2025 Late Registration Rules
- Students who were enrolled last year must pay off any outstanding fees before they can register.

- Students who register late will have to pay a late registration fee.
NMU 2025 Late Registration Closing Date
2025 late registrations at Nelson Mandela University will be accepted until 28 February 2025. Students are encouraged to submit their late registrations between 10 to 28 February 2025 to be part of the NMU family. Students will not be allowed to register after the final late registration date. Registering during this period ensures that you have access to all available courses, allowing you to plan your academic schedule without restrictions.
NOTE: Students who register late will be liable for payment of a late registration penalty because of limited facilities and resources. Nelson Mandela University can only accommodate a specific number of students for modules presented by certain departments.

How to register at Nelson Mandela University for the 2025 academic year
Step by Step guide on how to register online at NMU for 2025 academic year:
- Visit the NMU Registration Site
- Select "Register now"
- Then login with your NMU student number and pin
- Select registration. This can be found at the top left of your screen.
- Select declaration by applicant. Please read and acknowledge the content and then select I accept. You have to
complete this process before you will be allowed to continue with your registration. - Select NSFAS accommodation indication. Select your option and then select submit.
- Select register now (on the left side of your screen).
- Your qualification information for 2025 will be displayed. Enter your employment status by selecting a value from the list.
- Select save and continue.
- The modules for your qualification will be displayed. Make your selection from the text box on the left.
- Select save and continue
- Once you have selected the modules for which you want to register.
- Note: you may only register for 120 credits or the annual total of your programme for any specific academic year.
- Select continue and view modules selected.
- Select I accept to confirm the registration of modules.
- Select accept registration in order to finalise your registration.
- Your proof of registration will be displayed.
- Print out your proof of registration for 2025
Here's how to pay NMU Registration Fee
The registration fee at NMU need to be paid at least two days before you register. Students who did not pay the registration will not be allowed to register unless they have sponsors. Students can use the following methods to pay the Nelson Mandela University Registration Fee:
- Official cashier pay points
- Bank-stamped deposit slips
- Electronic fund transfers
Please note of the following regarding paying the registration fee at NMU:
- Internet and direct bank payments do not reflect immediately on your student account and processing may take up to TWO working days. Down payments must therefore be made two working days prior to registration.
- Registration will be blocked until the payment reflects on the student account. Queries will be attended to after the two working days have expired.
- A copy of the bank deposit slip/internet proof of payment is required.
- You will be able to continue with online registration, after the queried payment has been identified on Nelson Mandela University’s bank statement
- Payments made at Nelson Mandela University Cashier Pay Points in respect of your registration down payment will immediately reflect as a credit on your student account.
- Verify that the amount paid, and student number reflects correctly on your receipt.
- Card payments in respect of application fees, printing, tuition fees, copy shop and meals can be made via the Nelson Mandela University website under Online Payment of Fees or at https://paymentgateway.mandela.ac.za/.
- Card payments made in person at the Cashiers on campus will only be accepted if presented by the cardholder him/herself.
- Budget plan payments are acceptable.
- No “cash back” transactions are allowed on credit card payments.
- If you choose to pay Nelson Mandela University directly via electronic fund transfer (EFT), it is important that you indicate your STUDENT NUMBER (without the ‘s’) as your deposit reference. This will enable us to associate the payment with your student account. The beneficiary must be Nelson Mandela University.
- Kindly ensure that the bank details of Nelson Mandela University and your student number are captured correctly.
- Electronic banking is at the payer’s own risk. The proof of payment presented to Nelson Mandela University must indicate that the transaction was successfully processed. Post-dated payments are not acceptable.
- Direct deposits can only be acknowledged if you state your STUDENT NUMBER (without the ‘s’) as a reference on your deposit slip.
- Your student number will enable NMU to associate the payment with your student account. The beneficiary
must be Nelson Mandela University. - Verify that the amount paid, bank account and student number reflect correctly on your deposit slip
