Northern Cape Urban TVET College (NCU TVET) is one of South Africa’s leading public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. NCV COURSES

NCV programmes are courses that are for learners who have passed grade 9 and would like to study towards a skill and qualification. These courses prepare learners for workplace. 

Information Technology: This course focuses on computer systems, data communication, programming, and office applications.

Safety in Society: This programme is ideal for those interested in law enforcement, policing, or community safety. 

Transport and Logistics: Learners are introduced to the principles of transportation, supply chain management, and warehousing. 

Tourism: This qualification provides knowledge and skills in travel, hospitality, and customer service.

 

Occupational Certificates & Skills Programmes

These programmes are designed for individuals who want to gain hands-on, industry-specific skills to pursue careers in the trades and technical fields.

Bricklayer: Learners acquire skills in building, plastering, and construction site safety. 

Carpenter and Joiner: This course develops practical skills in woodworking, furniture making, and construction joinery. 

Plumbing: Students learn how to install, maintain, and repair water supply and drainage systems. 

Hairdressing: This qualification offers practical and theoretical training in hair cutting, styling, colouring, and salon management. 

Beauty Therapist: The course covers skincare, nail technology, makeup application, and spa treatments.

Chef: This hands-on culinary course teaches students about food preparation, cooking techniques, kitchen hygiene, and menu planning. 

 

You will need the following certified documents:

  • Certified copy of ID
  • ID Copy of parents/guardian if applicable 
  • Proof of Residence 
  • Copy of latest results
  • NSFAS reference number if you have already applied for 2026 

NB: Before starting your application, ensure you have all the required certified documents ready. 

These documents are used to confirm your identity and other information you have provided about yourself. 

 

Entry Requirements

For NCV Courses: You need to have passed Grade 9

For Occupational Programmes: You need to have passed grade 12

Applicants who don't meet requirements will not be accepted into any programmes at the Northern Cape Urban TVET College for the 2026 academic year. 

Applicants are encouraged to thoroughly check requirements before attempting to apply at the higher institution. 

NCU receives a huge number of applicants and qualifying applicants take a priority.

How to Apply

Applying at the Northern Cape Urban TVET College is pretty simple. Head over to their official application portal and get started with your online application. 

New students will be required to write a placement test. This is a compulsory test and failure to write it will lead to disqualification. 

After completing the placement test, new applicants will then proceed to do an online application for 2026.
