Only 5 days left before UNISA officially closes its 2026 online applications

The University of South Africa has once again reminded prospective students to apply for 2026 before the closing date. They have issued a final reminder on their official Facebook page on the 05th of October 2025 reminding interested applicants to apply at UNISA before 10 October 2025. 

Interested applicants can apply for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. 

Undergraduate studies offer courses for individuals who have no other qualification - straight from high school. While postgraduate studies offer courses for students who have qualifications in other institutions or the University of South Africa.

This top distance learning institutions emphasised that no late applications will be accepted for the 2026 academic year as students have been given enough time to apply. 

It is important to know that UNISA does not accept walk in applications. If you are struggling with your online application you are advised to contact the UNISA contact centre at 0800 00 1870.   

The closing date for Masters and Doctoral qualifications at the University of South Africa is 21 November 2025. 

The UNISA Short learning programmes registrations window is from 05 January 2026 to 13 February 2026. 

Applying Before 10 October 2025 - UNISA

UNISA urges everyone to apply before 10 October 2025 because on the 10th the UNISA website will face a large volume of users as more and more people decide to apply. The large volume often result to glitches.

The institution has though confirmed that their website can stand the traffic but it it better to be safe than sorry!

Some applicants will be required to submit additional documents and applying on the day of the closing date puts them at a disadvantage as they will need to gather required documents. 

Documents should be certified and scanned. preferably not more than 3 months. 

The Application Process

-The University of South Africa Application process is easy as ABC. All you have to do is head over to their website at: http://www.unisa.ac.za/apply

-Choose they type of qualification. Are you applying for undergraduate? Postgraduate? Masters/Doctoral?

-Select specific course. Is it Education? Humanities? Economics? Science?

-Provide contact details. This is where you write your email address and phone numbers. You of course want them to get in touch with you.

-Now upload all your scanned documents. Remember larger files don't apply 

-Submit the completed form online before 23:59 on 10 October 2025.

-Last Step: Now pay a non refundable application fee of R150 your student number and the correct reference. 

Application Status

Individuals can view their application status after the closing date. If the Status is negative do not give up there are over 5 universities that are still open for 2026 intake.

Those who are accepted or admitted for 2026 at UNISA should ensure that they accept their offers in time to avoid their offers being forfeited.
