The SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) has officially opened applications for the 2026 bursary fund. This bursary provides financial support for South African students from specific beneficiary communities to study at public higher education institutions.
Beneficiary communities include:
- Gamagara
- Ga-Segonyana
- Joe Morolong
- Tsantsabane
- Thabazimbi
This opportunity aims to help youth pursue higher education and build sustainable livelihoods.
Who Can Apply?
You qualify if you:
- Are a South African citizen from SIOC-CDT beneficiary communities.
- Are 35 years or younger at the closing date.
- Are accepted/provisionally accepted at a public higher education institution for 2026.
- Are in financial need (priority given to undergraduates).
- Have a disability (encouraged to apply).
Priority Study Fields
Although all fields are welcome, priority is given to:
- Agriculture: Veterinary Science, Environmental Officer, Agricultural Economist, Food Technologist
- Health Sciences: MBChB, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Biochemistry, Medical Lab Sciences
- Education: BEd in Maths, Science, EMS, Languages, Special Needs, Foundation Phase
- Law: LLB
- Tourism: Hospitality Management, Eco-Tourism, Arts & Culture Heritage
- Business & Economics: Accounting, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Project Management
- Engineering & Sciences: Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Mining Engineering, Geology, Quantity Surveying, Environmental Health, Architecture, Town Planning
- IT & Technology: Computer Science, Software Development, Data Science, Web Design
What the SIOC-CDT Bursary Covers
- Full tuition and registration fees
- Accommodation
- Prescribed study materials
- Laptop
- Monthly stipend
- Assistive devices for students with disabilities
How to Apply
Required Documents:
- Certified copy of SA ID
- Latest academic results (Grade 12/University)
- Final NSC result (if completed in 2025)
- Proof of acceptance/provisional acceptance at a public university/TVET/FET College
- Proof of residence (not older than 3 months)
- Proof of parent/guardian income OR affidavit of unemployment
- Death certificate (if parents/guardians are deceased)
- Medical certificate (for applicants with disabilities)
