SPU 2026 Registration for First Year Students

Important 2026 Registration Dates
Online and On-Campus Registration (First Years)
- 26 January to 6 February 2026
Residence Registration (First Years with a Firm Residence Offer)
- 23 January and 24 January 2026
Orientation for First Year Students
- 26 January to 6 February 2026
- Vice-Chancellor’s Welcome Ceremony: 7 February 2026
First Year Students Registration
All first-year students who have received a firm offer letter are encouraged to register online from 26 January 2026.
Need Help with Registration?
If you cannot register online at home, SPU staff will be available to assist you:
- Venue: Mathematical and Computational Sciences Building (C006)
- Campus: Central Campus
- Entrance: Bishops Avenue
- Dates: 26 January to 2 February 2026
📄 Remember to bring your firm-offer letter for the qualification you were accepted into.
Residence Registration for First Years
If you have received a firm residence offer, take note:
- Dates: 23 and 24 January 2026
- You must complete your academic online registration first
- Computer labs will be available to help first-time residence students
Student Card and Laptop Setup
During registration, you will also complete:
- Student card collection
- Laptop and system setup
Make sure to follow the step-by-step registration process provided by SPU.
Orientation Week: A Must for All First Years
Orientation is compulsory for all first-time entering students.
- Dates: 26 January to 6 February 2026
- Campus: Central Campus
Orientation will end with the Vice-Chancellor’s Official Welcome Ceremony on 7 February 2026, where first-year students will be formally welcomed by Prof Debra Meyer, Vice-Chancellor and Principal Designate.
General Registration Information
All students must register using SPU’s ITS Student iEnabler System.
To register, you need:
- A valid student number
- A working email address
- A unique five-digit PIN (sent to your email)
Login Details
- Username: Student number
- Password: Five-digit PIN
If you forget your PIN, click “Forgot PIN” on the system and it will be sent to your email.
Students registering on campus must follow the SPU 2026 Registration Schedule, which shows venues, dates, and times.
Who Can Register? (First Year Requirements)
First-year students must:
- Have completed the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent
- Have applied online to SPU and met the minimum programme requirements
- Have submitted all required documents during application
- Have received a firm offer for the 2026 academic year
- Have accepted the firm offer on the Student iEnabler system
- Check their status if waitlisted and wait for final confirmation
- Register all required modules
- Have a bank account for allowances
- Capture banking details on the system during orientation
SPU Online Registration Process: Step-by-Step Guide
Follow these steps carefully to complete your online registration at Sol Plaatje University (SPU).
Before You Start
Please note the following important points:
- Visit the SPU website: www.spu.ac.za
OR register directly using this link:
https://ienabler.spu.ac.za/pls/prodi41/w99pkg.mi_login?numtype=S - Recommended browser: Use Internet Explorer to avoid technical problems.
- Make sure you have:
- Your student number
- Access to the email address used during application
Step 1: Log In to the Student System
- Enter your student number
- Enter your five-digit PIN
- Click the Login button
Step 2: Forgot Your PIN or Need to Create One?
If you do not have a PIN or have forgotten it:
- Enter your student number
- Click Request a PIN or Forgot PIN
- A new PIN will be sent to your email address
⚠️ If your email address has changed:
- Undergraduate applicants must contact the relevant department
- Postgraduate applicants must contact their Faculty Manager
If the system blocks you after three unsuccessful login attempts, contact your Faculty Manager or Administrator to reset your access.
Once logged in, you must read and accept the Registration Rules and Indemnity and Consent Form to continue.
✅ Congratulations! You have now accessed the Student Online System.
Step 3: Accept Registration Rules and Consent
- Click Registration on the left-hand menu
- Select Rules and Regulations
- Read the SPU Online Registration Rules and Indemnity and Consent Form
- Scroll to the bottom and click I Accept
⚠️ This acts as your electronic consent and is required to proceed.
Step 4: Upload Required Documents
Click on Certificates Seen and upload the following documents:
- Acknowledgement of Debt (AOD)
(Certified scanned copy) - Proof of Registration Payment
(Certified scanned copy) - Acknowledgement of Funding
(Certified letter from your funder)
Click Save after uploading each document.
📌 All uploaded documents will be verified against the original copies.
Step 5: View Academic Admission Status
- Click Academic Admission Status
- Confirm that your status allows you to continue with registration
Step 6: View Correspondence
- Click Correspondence
- Open or print any documents sent to you by the University
Step 7: Register Your Qualification and Subjects
- Click Submit Registration
- Complete the required fields
For Education Qualifications
You must complete two fields:
- Employment Status
- Employed by an external employer
- Employed by this employer
- Unemployed
- Teaching Profession
Click Save and Continue to view your subjects.
- Select your compulsory and elective modules according to your qualification guide
- Click Save and Continue
(Or Restart Process if you need to go back)
For All Other Qualifications
- Update Employment Status only
- Click Save and Continue
- Select your compulsory subjects
- Click Save and Continue
⚠️ Important for First-Time Students:
Do not tick Repeat Subject (Semester 1, Semester 2, or Year) if you are registering at SPU for the first time.
Verify your subjects and click Continue to view the Estimated Cost.
Step 8: Generate Proof of Registration
- Click Accept Registration
- Download or print your Proof of Registration
This document is required to:
- Apply for residence accommodation
- Receive a laptop (first-time SPU students only)
- Receive a student card
(Replacement cards will be charged)
Step 9: Register Additional Subjects (If Needed)
- Click Add Subject to a Registration
- Select your qualification code
- Tick additional subjects you need
- Click Save and Continue
- You may reprint your Proof of Registration
📌 To cancel or change a subject, contact your Faculty Manager.
Step 10: If You Are Blocked from Registering Online
- Ensure all mandatory fields are selected using the dropdown menus
- Tick the following options:
- Notify the Institution: Yes / No
- Copy student on email: Yes / No
- Enter your email address
- Click Notify and Restart Process
An email will be sent to:
- The Finance Department
- Your student email address
Step 11: View Academic Application Status
- Click Academic Application Status
- Check your status (Firm Offer, Waitlisted, Unsuccessful, etc.)

After You Register
Once registration is complete:
- Prepare for the compulsory orientation programme
- Refer to the SPU website for full orientation details
- Attend all required orientation activities from 26 January to 6 February 2026
