Who Can Apply?

The bursary is open to South African citizens who demonstrate academic potential and a commitment to furthering their education. To qualify, applicants need to meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be currently in Matric or have recently completed Matric
  • Must be studying or intend on studying towards a qualification, within one of the fields of study listed above
  • Must be entering your 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of study in 2026
  • Must have been accepted or registered to study at a recognised and accredited University in South Africa
  • Must have achieved a minimum result of 65% for Mathematics, Physical Science and English in Matric (if not studying yet)
  • Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 60% (if already studying)
  • Must have a strong academic record
  • Preference will be given to students residing in local communities surrounding the Namakwa Sands sites (Saldanha and Matzikama Municipalities). however students outside of these areas are also encouraged to apply
  • Female students and students with disabilities are encouraged to apply

NOTE:

Nominated applicants will need to go through a selection process (including psychometric assessments, background screening and medical examinations)

Successful candidates should be willing to be placed at any of Tronox Business Unit Operations on completion of studies.

Applicants from the local communities surrounding the Namakwa Sands sites (Saldanha and Matzikama Municipalities) will be given preference.
