Step 1: Review All Registration Information

Before you begin, make sure you carefully go through the official registration details on the UFS website (https://www.ufs.ac.za/register). Understanding the process upfront helps you prepare the required documents and avoid delays.

Step 2: Start Your Registration Tasks

Part 1: Begin Online Registration

Online registrations open on 2 January 2026.
Submit your registration request by following the online Registration Activity Guide.
Students with disabilities should also submit a CUADS reasonable accommodation request.

Part 2: Clear Any Holds

To complete registration, ensure the following:

  • Your first payment is made at least five working days before registration (unless covered by a bursary or NSFAS).
  • You have no outstanding fees.
  • Any academic holds are cleared.

NSFAS-funded students will receive an SMS once their prepayment block is lifted. If not, contact the Financial Aid Office.

Part 3: Get Curriculum Advising

Use the 2026 faculty yearbook to confirm the modules for your course.
If you’re unsure, book a session with a CTL academic adviser.
Remember:

  • Register for your Critical Academic Literacies (CAL) module.
  • Register for your First-Year Seminar (FYS).
  • Mainstream students must write the academic literacy placement test before classes begin.

  • Proof of Registration
  • Class Timetable / Course Schedule

These documents help you confirm your module choices and prepare for your first day.
