UJ 2025 applications are now open. Prospective students can now submit their applications online from 01 April 2024 to 31 October 2024. In this article, I will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to apply online at University of Johannesburg (UJ) for 2025 academic year.
How to apply online at University of Johannesburg (UJ) for 2025
Before you start your online application process at University of Johannesburg, take note of the following:
- Make sure you have an email address. If you do not have one, you must create an email address first.

2. Calculate your APS. You are required to do this before the online application.
University of Johannesburg's (UJ) Required Documents:
Note that when applying online at University of Johannesburg for 2025 you need to upload the following clear documents:
- certified copies of your identity document
- Certified copy of your Senior Certificate/National Senior Certificate and all other relevant documents.
- Certified Grade 11 report
You don’t have to fax any of these documents. Your documents should be scanned and uploaded online. The accepted document types/format are: (pdf,doc,docx,tiff,PNG,jpg, jpeg)

University of Johannesburg (UJ) online application Application Fee:
- No application fee is required when applying at University of Johannesburg online but if you apply using a hard copy form you need to pay an application fee of R200.
How to Apply Online at UJ for 2025
To get started with your online application process at University of Johannesburg (UJ) for 2025 you need to visit the University of Johannesburg (UJ) website at www.uj.ac.za
Step 1: accept the application rules and click "continue"
Step 2: Capture your biographical information and click "next" to proceed with your application;
Step 3: Capture results details then add subjects and click "next";
Step 4: Capture educational institution detail and click "next";
Step 5: Capture academic application details (choose 2 choices/programmes you wish to apply for), click on "add qualification" and thereafter click "next";
Step 6: Verify/Check your application details then click "continue";
Step 7: Create your 5 digit PIN (e.g 24689), click "I accept"(twice) checkbox thereafter click "Submit Application";
Step 8: Upload your documents, select "yes" on the dropdown list if all your documents are ready to be uploaded and then click "next";
Step 9: Click "Load/View Document" >> "Upload document" >> "Choose/Browse file" go to the folder where your documents are stored, choose the relevant document and click "save";
Step 10: Once all documents have been uploaded click "complete upload";
Step 11: Confirmation Page, end of application

Does UJ want Grade 11 results?
Your grade 11 report is required when applying at UJ, especially if you are currently in grade 12. If you have completed your grade 12 and have a national senior certificate, you should upload your matric results under the grade 11 results tab but this applies to those who have lost their final grade 11 report.
How many choices can I apply for at UJ?
You can only apply for two choices at UJ. However, your first choice should be a course you are REALLY interested in and that you meet the admission requirements for. For example if nursing is your passion, then it should be your first choice.
Can I apply again at UJ after being rejected?
If you have applied before (Previous Years) at University of Johannesburg, you can apply again at UJ for the next academic year. You need to ensure that you meet all the admission requirements for the course you are applying for to avoid history repeating itself.
How to reapply at UJ for 2025
- Visit the UJ website and click on the "Apply Now" button.
- Then click on "returning applicant" button
- Login with your student number and pin
- Click on the menu
- Then click on "returning application" button
- Then click on "add a course" button
- Then Upload all of the required documents, including your NSC certificate or equivalent international qualification, identity document or birth certificate, passport (if applicable), and recent passport-size photo.
Tips to re-apply at UJ:
- Make sure you meet all of the admission requirements for the course you are applying for.
- Review your previous application and identify any areas where you can improve.
- Apply early!
Finally, ensure that you submit your application before the closing date because the applications submitted after the closing date will not be considered for admission for 2025 academic year.
