UJ 2026 Late Applications confirmed to Open
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has officially confirmed that its late application process for the 2026 academic year will open in mid-January, offering a final opportunity for prospective students to enquire about available study spaces.
According to information released by the university, UJ’s late enquiry system will open at 22:00 on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, and will close at 20:00 on Monday, 19 January 2026. This system is strictly online, and no walk-ins will be allowed at any UJ campus during the late enquiry period. Find more info here.
The late enquiry process is designed for applicants who want to check whether UJ still has space in a specific qualification or who wish to enquire about changing to another course. Importantly, only qualifications that still have available spaces — and for which applicants meet the minimum entrance requirements — will be visible on the system.
UJ has also made it clear that this process is not a guaranteed admission route. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their enquiry within five working days of the system opening.
Applicants are not required to visit any campus to confirm their enquiry status. If no SMS or email is received within five working days, applicants are advised to verify their status online or contact the UJ Call Centre on 011 559 4555 for assistance.
Who can apply?
Only South African residents are eligible to submit a late enquiry. UJ has confirmed that the following applicants will not be considered during this process:
- Transfer students from other universities or colleges
- Returning UJ students who have previously studied at the institution
Applicants who already have a UJ student number will be required to log in using their iEnabler PIN and password. Those who have forgotten their login details can reset them using the “forgot PIN” or “forgot password” options, or contact the call centre for help.
For applicants who have never applied to UJ before, the system will automatically assess whether they qualify for any courses with available space. Applicants who have previously applied will be able to view their final application status and, where possible, select alternative qualifications.
No campus visits required
UJ has emphasized that the late enquiry system is entirely electronic. All official communication regarding outcomes will be sent via SMS or email, and applicants must agree to the university’s POPIA terms and conditions when submitting an enquiry.
The university has warned that dates and available qualifications may change, depending on capacity after final results are processed. Prospective students are therefore encouraged to act quickly once the system opens.
With competition for spaces expected to be high, the late enquiry window represents a crucial last chance for eligible students hoping to secure a place at the University of Johannesburg in 2026.
