The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has officially opened its 2026 late applications for selected programmes, giving prospective students who missed the standard intake a final opportunity to join the university. The announcement comes as part of UJ’s commitment to expanding access to higher education and supporting learners eager to pursue their academic and career goals.

 

Important Dates

UJ has confirmed that the  2026 late applications are officially open! The UJ 2026 late applications will run from 14 January to 19 January 2026. 

Only students who meet minimum admission requirements will be considered. Students are also advised to apply as early as possible to increase their chances of securing a spot in selected programmes.

 

Who Can Apply

Late applications at UJ are primarily aimed at students who:

  1. Missed the initial application deadline for 2026
  2. Want to change their programme of study
  3. Need to improve their chances of securing a place at a preferred faculty

"We are providing this opportunity to ensure deserving students do not miss out on pursuing their academic ambitions for 2026," said a spokesperson from UJ’s admissions department.

Requirements

Before submitting a late application to UJ, it is essential for prospective students to check the minimum requirements for their chosen programme. Not every course accepts late applications, and each programme has specific academic prerequisites that must be met to qualify for admission.

Checking these requirements before you apply is critical — applying without meeting the minimum criteria could lead to your application being rejected, wasting time and effort.

UJ makes it easy for students to verify requirements. You can click the official link provided by the university to view detailed minimum entry requirements for all programmes available for 2026 late applications. This ensures you only apply for courses for which you are eligible.

 

How to Apply: UJ 2026 Late Applications 

UJ has made the late application process fully online to simplify access. Here’s a step-by-step guide for prospective students:

Visit the official UJ late enquiry portal. You have to submit either your UJ student number, Grade 12 examination number or ID number and click on submit. Then the system will automatically verify whether you qualify for any course where there's still space available. 

Note: If you already have a UJ student number you will be requested to enter your iEnabler PIN . If you forgot your PIN or password you will be re-directed to the iEnabler page. Enter your UJ student number and click on the request a pin button. Your PIN will be sent to your email address. Click on the back button of the browser and re-enter your student number and PIN to proceed – alternatively you can contact the UJ Call Centre at 011 559 4555.

Step 2: Verify your personal details and click on confirm.

Step 3: If you have not applied at UJ, the system will indicate whether you qualify for any available courses. 

Step 4: Qualifications which you qualify for and still have space available will be displayed per Faculty/College. Please select your preferred Faculty/College.

Step 5: A list of available qualifications within the Faculty/College will be displayed. Select the course you are interested in.

Step 6: If you are happy with your selection click on submit an enquiry. If you are not happy with your selection click on make a different selection to restart the process.

Step 7: Enter your cell phone number and click on submit
