- 3 March 2025 – Applications opened
- 1 April 2025 – Residence applications will open
- 30 June 2025 – Closing date for:
- Faculty of Health Sciences (all courses)
- Bachelor of Architectural Studies
- Bachelor of Audiology
- Bachelor of Speech-Language Pathology
- BA Film and Television
- 30 September 2025 – Closing date for all other University courses and residence applications

How to Apply to WITS for 2026 Applications
Step 1: Apply Online
To apply, visit the WITS application portal: www.wits.ac.za/applications.
- You can apply for a maximum of three courses (order of choice does not matter).
- Make sure you meet the admission requirements for your chosen degree.
- Use your full legal name as it appears on your ID or passport.
- If applying for two courses within one faculty, it is advisable to choose an additional course in a less restricted faculty (e.g., Humanities, Commerce, or Science).
- Apply before the closing date to avoid missing out on your preferred course.
Step 2: Pay the Application Fee & Upload Supporting Documents
Application Fees:
- South African citizens: R100
- International applicants: R700

- Log into the self-service portal and navigate to the Campus Finances section.
- Payments can also be made via EFT or bank deposit:

Required Supporting Documents:
- Current Matric Learners: Final Grade 11 results (signed and stamped by your school principal).
- Matriculated Applicants: Certified copies of your Matric certificate or foreign school-leaving certificate.
- Tertiary Education Applicants: Certified copies of academic records from all tertiary institutions attended (even if the qualification was not completed).
Step 3: Application Acknowledgement
Once you submit your application, WITS will send an acknowledgment email with your person number (which will become your student number). This email will also include contact details for an Admissions Consultant, who can assist with any queries.
To stay updated, regularly check your application status via the WITS student self-service portal.
Step 4: Track Your Application & Accept Your Offer
- Check your application status and ensure all documents are uploaded.
- If you receive an offer, log into the self-service portal to accept it.
- Final acceptance is based on your Matric results.
- If you are waitlisted, follow WITS' waitlist process.

WITS 2026 Applications Admission Requirements
Admission to WITS is competitive and based on:
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent.
- A Bachelor’s degree pass.
- Meeting the faculty-specific requirements.
- WITS APS (Admission Points Score) calculation.
WITS APS Calculation
- English (Home Language or First Additional Language) is compulsory.
- Mathematics is required for Commerce, Law, Management, Engineering, Science, and most Health Sciences programmes.
- Mathematical Literacy is accepted for some degrees (e.g., LLB, Education, and Humanities).
- WITS calculates APS based on your best seven subjects, including Life Orientation.
