WSU courses that do not require maths or maths lit picture

At Walter Sisulu University (WSU), there are many courses you can take even if you haven't done well in mathematics or mathematical literacy. These courses do not consider maths as a requirement to be accepted into the institution and programme.

 

WSU courses that do not require maths or maths lit 

The following courses do not require maths or maths lit at WSU:

  • Higher Certificate in Versatile Broadcasting
  • Diploma in Public Management
  • Diploma in Public Relations Management
  • Diploma in Policing
  • Diploma in Tourism Management
  • Diploma in Journalism
  • Bachelor of Administration

 

Requirements of WSU courses that do not require maths or maths lit:

Higher Certificate in Versatile Broadcasting

English: Level 4 

Any other three subjects: Level 3

Duration: 1 year

Possible careers:

  • Broadcaster/communicator
  • Creative producer
  • Voice-over artist
  • Community radio manager
  • TV/Radio Presenter

 

Diploma in Public Management

English:  Level 4 

Any other three subjects: Level 3 

Duration: 3 years

Possible careers:

  • Public Administration Specialist
  • Policy Analyst
  • Project Manager

 

Diploma in Public Relations Management

level 4: in two (2) languages: English, isiXhosa or Afrikaans.

Duration: 3 years

Possible careers:

  • Public Relations Manager
  • Social Media Manager
  • Event Coordinator
  • Media Relations Specialist
  • Public Relations Specialist

Diploma in Policing

English: Level 3 

Level 3 in four of the following subjects:

Life orientation, Life science, Business Studies, Economics, Geography, History, Tourism.

Duration: 3 years

Possible Careers:

  • Employee of  SAPS
  • Reservist
  • Private investigator
  • Municipal and metro police

 

Diploma in Tourism Management

English: Level 3 

Level 3:  in any 3 of the following school subjects: History, Geography, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, Tourism, Agriculture, Life Orientation, Physical Science, Life Science, Accounting, Business Studies and Economics.

Duration: 3 years

Possible Careers:

  • Travel Agency Manager
  • Tourism Consultant
  • Tour Guide
  • Tour Operator

 

Diploma in Journalism

Level 4 in any other 4 subjects:  In the 4 subjects, 2 must be languages (English, Afrikaans, Xhosa).

Duration: 3 years

Possible careers: 

  • Journalist in print media
  • Broadcaster
  • Industrial and online journalist.

 

Bachelor of Administration

APS: 30

English: Level 4

Any other three subjects: Level 4

Duration: 4 years

Possible careers: 

  • Clerk
  • Receptionist
  • Business administrator

 

Keep in mind that even if a course does not require maths, it might require other subjects such as English, Tourism, Geography, Business Studies and Economics.
