About This Programme

Prepares engineers for large-scale industrial processes producing chemicals, pharmaceuticals, fertilisers, fuels, and other materials. Graduates are also involved in waste processing and recycling.

Admission Requirements

Required Subjects

  • Mathematics 5 60–69%
  • Physical Sciences 4 50–59%
  • English or Afrikaans 3 40–49%

Additional Requirements

  • NSC aggregate of at least 70% excluding Life Orientation
  • Mathematics 70%
  • Physical Sciences 60%
  • Selection mark = Mathematics % + Physical Sciences % + (6 x Matric average)
Selection mark calculated from Mathematics %, Physical Sciences % and 6x Matric average (max 800). A selection mark of 600+ gives a reasonable chance for some programmes; others may require 620+. Also available as a 5-year ECP.
