About UMP

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) was established in 2013 as one of South Africa's newest public universities to expand access to quality higher education in the Mpumalanga province. Operating from campuses in Mbombela and Siyabuswa, UMP has grown rapidly from an initial intake of 169 students to over 13 000 students by 2026. The university offers a mix of career-oriented and academic programmes across three faculties, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application, research, and community engagement to address regional and national development needs.
