Bachelor of Music (5-year programme)

A five-year extended music degree for students who meet lower entry requirements, requiring a practical audition and theory assessment.

Required Subjects

• English Home Language or English First Additional Language 4 50–59%
• Music (Grade V Practical and Grade III Theory, Unisa/Royal Schools/Trinity or comparable) 4 50–59%

Additional Requirements

• Video of a 10-minute practical performance at Grade V standard (at least 50%).
• Online theory test at Grade III standard (at least 50%).
• Admissions take place in July, September and on an ad-hoc basis.
• Students admitted to this programme may not be considered for any other Faculty of Humanities degree except the 4-year BMus.
