SPU 2025 Registration Closing Date Extended
Sol Plaatje University (SPU) has extended the closing date for 2025 registrations. This decision provides additional time for applicants to finalize their enrolment, ensuring that more students have the opportunity to join SPU. SPU 2025 Registration Closing Date Extended
Originally, the registration deadline at Sol Plaatje University was set for 11 February 2025. However, recognizing the challenges faced by many students, SPU has extended the 2025 registration deadline to 14 February 2025. This extension aims to accommodate students who may have encountered difficulties during the registration process.
The following students can register to study at Sol Plaatje University for the 2025 academic year:
- Students who have been accepted to study at SPU for the first time.
- Returning students who were previously enrolled at SPU and are continuing with their studies.
- Returning students with no funding challenges
- Postgraduate students (pursuing postgraduate diplomas, honours, master's, or doctoral degrees)
- International students who have been accepted to study at Sol Plaatje University
How to register at SPU for the 2025 academic year
A step by step guide to register at SPU for first time entering students for 2025:
STEP 1: VERIFICATION AT ENTRANCE
- Registrations for first time entering students will be completed at the SPU campus
- Students need to present firm offer letter for entry at the campus
- Students who have already registered should present a proof of registration for entry at the campus
- Students should proceed to the Computer Labs at C006 (Mathematical and Computational Sciences Building)
NB:A LUGGAGE STORAGE AREA WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR RESIDENCE STUDENTS AT AUDITORIUM 1 (GROUND
FLOOR - C006) WHILE THE STUDENT IS REGISTERING AT THE DIFFERENT POINTS
STEP 2: ONLINE ACADEMIC REGISTRATION: Computer Labs
- Students should register online in the Computer Labs (Second Floor – C006) by using student number
- Faculties will assist students to register in computer labs.
- Student will need to print proof of registration in venue (3 copies)
STEP 3: STUDENT CARD (Only FIRST YEAR students)
- Students need to go to the AUDITORIUM 2 (GROUND FLOOR – C006) Venue
- They will be required to present Proof of Registration before student card is issued
- Students who have already registered online and did not make use of the computer labs,
may go directly to this point (remember to bring with your proof of registration).
STEP 4: LAPTOP
- VENUE: ICT DEPARTMENT (situated at the side of Moroka Hall of Residence next to Scanlan Street)
- Student to present Student Card before laptop will be issued.
STEP 5: RESIDENCE REGISTRATION
- Students need to go the OLD LIBRARY (C021) – Economic and Management Sciences Building.
- Student need to produce Proof of Registration for FINAL registration in Residence.
Sol Plaatje University Registration Fee Conditions
The following financial conditions apply to registrations for returning and first-time entering students.
- SELF-FUNDED/UNFUNDED STUDENTS:
All self-funded/unfunded students are required to make an upfront payment towards fees before they register. They should pay R6 000 for tuition and R6 000 for residence (if allocated).
Students should then email proof of payment to the Financial Aid Office. Contact details are available HERE
- FUNDED STUDENTS:
No upfront payment is required from funded students.
Students should provide proof of funding

- RETURNING STUDENTS WITH OUTSTANDING FEES:
Returning students with outstanding fees should visit the following SPU page to learn more about the necessary steps that should be taken to be able to register for the 2025 academic year.
- POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS WITH OUTSTANDING FEES:
Postgraduate students will be required to settle their full outstanding balance before registration.
Postgraduate students with no funding will be required to make a payment of R6 000 toward their fees for 2025.
