University of Cape Town (UCT) applications for the 2025 academic year are officially open as of 02 April 2024. UCT is one of the best universities in South Africa. University of Cape Town (UCT) Required Documents:

  • certified copy of your identity document
  • Certified copy of your Senior Certificate/National Senior Certificate or equivalent
  • Certified Grade 11 report (if you are currently in grade 12)
  • Your Grade 12 March Report  (if you are currently in grade 12)
  • Your grade 12 June report (if you are currently in grade 12)
  • Your Grade 12 September (trial) Report (if you are currently in grade 12)

University of Cape Town (UCT) Requirements:

  • The minimum requirement for admission to undergraduate diploma study is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 3 (Moderate Achievement, 40-49%) or better in 4 recognised NSC 20-credit subjects.
  • To be eligible for admission to degree study, applicants need to meet minimum requirements for eligibility: Applicants holding a South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) need to pass a minimum of 4 subjects at a rating of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50-59%) or better in any four 20-credit NSC subjects.
  • Applicants holding a South African Senior Certificate need matriculation endorsement.
  • Applicants holding non-South African school-leaving certificates must qualify for a matriculation exemption certificate. For more information please visit the website of the Matriculation Board.
  • English Language Proficiency: All applicants must have attained a certain level of proficiency in English. South African applicants can demonstrate this through a pass in English Home Language or First Additional Language on the NSC. International applicants can fulfill this requirement through various standardized tests like IELTS or TOEFL.

The closing date for applications for undergraduate studies at UCT is 31 July 2024. Applications received after this date will not be considered. Make sure that you submit your application as soon as possible.
