UNIVEN 2026 Requirements for Admission

1. Degree Courses (Bachelor’s Degree)

To be admitted to a degree course at UNIVEN, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC): The applicant must have a National Senior Certificate (NSC) certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 4 (adequate achievement, 50-59%) or better in at least four recognized 20-credit NSC subjects.
  • Minimum APS Score: Applicants must have a minimum Admission Point Score (APS) of 26.
  • Matric Exemption: If you have completed Grade 12, you must have a Grade 12 certificate with Bachelor’s Exemption or matric exemption to be eligible for degree courses.

Note: Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to a course, as selection is also based on other factors such as course capacity and competition.

2. Diploma Courses

For diploma courses, the admission requirements are as follows:

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC): You must have a National Senior Certificate (NSC) certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 3 (moderate achievement, 40-49%) or better in at least four recognized 20-credit NSC subjects.

3. Higher Certificate Courses

For higher certificate courses, the following minimum requirements apply:

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC): You must have a National Senior Certificate (NSC) certified by Umalusi. There is no specific achievement rating required for certificate courses.

4. Calculation of Admission Point Score (APS)

The APS is used to determine the eligibility of an applicant for a particular course. The score is calculated based on the applicant's Matric/Grade 12 results.
