About the Learnership

The Learner Official A Stream is a recognised mining qualification designed to equip learners with practical and theoretical knowledge required to work in underground mining operations. This programme is suitable for learners who have a strong academic foundation in Mathematics and Physical Science and are interested in building a long-term career in mining.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Must have a Grade 12 certificate
• Must have achieved:
  • English – Level 5 (60% or higher)
  • Mathematics – Level 5 (60% or higher)
  • Physical Science – Level 5 (60% or higher)
• Must be willing to work in the Gold West Wits operating area
• Must meet the physical and medical fitness requirements of underground mining
