About Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone Bursary 

The Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone Bursary aims to bridge the gap between education and employment, empowering individuals while simultaneously building a skilled workforce and fostering economic growth in the region. This bursary program encourages students to pursue fields that support the RBIDZ's commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility.

The bursary programme is open to students who want to pursue undergraduate qualification in the following fields:

  • Accounting
  • Agriculture
  • Architecture and Built Environment
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Computer and Data Science
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Environmental
  • Finance and Business
  • Industrial and Mechanical Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Maritime
  • Metallurgical Engineering
     

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE RICHARDS BAY INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ZONE BURSARY

To qualify for the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone Bursary you must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Must have achieved level 5,6 and 7 in Grade 12 subjects (especially Mathematics, Physical Science, Economics, Accounting and English)
  • Must have been in matric in 2023 OR completed Matric.
  • Must reside within the King Cetshwayo District, KwaZulu Natal
  • Must be entering FIRST year in 2024 pursuing a full-time qualification within the mentioned study fields at a South African accredited university.
  • Must NOT be a beneficiary of any other bursary.

 

RICHARDS BAY INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ZONE BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • Your certified ID Document
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate
  • Acceptance letter from University of Technology or University
  • Character reference letter from teacher or community leader
  • Motivational letter stating why you should be awarded the bursary
  • Parents/legal guardians proof of income (3 months payslips if employed, Affidavit confirming unemployment, SASSA grant income OR pension if applicable)
  • Proof of residence

NOTE: Certified documents must not be older than THREE months.
