The South African Police Service (SAPS) has officially confirmed the opening of its 2026 trainee recruitment programme. The announcement was made on 30 June 2025, with the online application process running until 18 July 2025.

Training Programme Structure

The SAPS trainee programme spans 21 months and is divided into two phases:

Probation Phase (9 months):
After successfully completing the basic training, trainees are placed at various police stations or units across the country where they complete on-the-job training under supervision.

Upon completion of both phases and passing all required assessments, recruits will be appointed as constables in the South African Police Service.
