In this giude you'll learn about UJ’s 2026 registration season. UJ 2026 Registrations are expected to open for Senior and Returning students on the 13 January – 7 February 2026, and for First-Year Registration: 14 January – 7 February 2026 (subject to change due to grade 12 results release date). Note that online registrations will be allowed. Register as early as possible due to courses being filled during the first few days of registration. Spaces cannot be guaranteed

University of Johannesburg (UJ) Registration 2026 — Step-by-Step Guide

Follow all the necessary steps and you should be finished in five minutes!

Step 1: Log into the UJ Registration Portal

  • Log onto the registration portal at ulink.uj.ac.za using your UJ STUDENT NUMBER AND PASSWORD.
  • If you do not have a password, click on CREATE A PASSWORD to continue.
  • If you are a First year student, you will be required to follow the facial recognition verification process. Follow the prompts and an SMS will be sent to do a selfie check to proceed.

Step 2: Open the Registration Page

  • Click on the CLASSES tab and then click on My Registration (ITS iEnabler).
  • Click on Registration on the left, to start the registration process.
  • Detailed instruction on how to use each option can be accessed by clicking on the blue question mark at each process.

Step 3: Verify Your Personal Details

  • Work your way through all the processes listed on the left.
  • Read the POPIA regulations and click on I Accept to continue.
  • Verify your personal contact details, address details and contact person details.
  • You can generate a provisional Proforma statement (if needed).
  • Click on Uploading of Documents Required to upload the required outstanding documents to register.

Step 4: Payment & Verification

  • Click on Registration Verification to verify your registration statuses w.r.t minimum payment, outstanding documents and web access to register.
  • Click on Submit Payment to make a payment. All outstanding fees from prior years to be paid PLUS the minimum payment fee applicable according to the registration verification.

Step 5: Complete Registration

  • If you are under the age of 18 on the day you register, you and your parent/guardian must accept the Online agreement including capturing of their details.
  • Read the Academic Registration Rules, Regulations and Indemnity and click on I Accept to continue.
  • Click on Submit Registration to confirm your qualification to be registered for. Enter your Employment Status and select whether you are responsible for your own account. If not supply the third party information requested.
  • Click on Save and Continue.
  • Select your combination of modules to be taken and click on Save and Proceed.
  • Verify the modules you plan to Register for and click on Continue.
  • Verify your Registration Cost and click on Accept Registration.
  • Print your Proof of Registration.

Step 6: Add Extra Subjects (Optional)

  • Click on Add Subjects to a Registration if you want to add extra subjects to your current registration as permitted by the rules and regulations of the University.

Step 7: Collect Your Student Card

  • After you have finalised your registration, please collect your student card (if you don’t already have one) at any of the four campuses as soon as possible.

 

Note: If you are not allowed to register online or if you have forgotten your password you can reset it in the beginning of the process or call (011 559 4555) for assistance.

 

Common Registration Issues and How to Fix Them

Issue 1: Forgot Student Portal PIN

  • Go to “Forgot PIN” on the login page to reset it.

Issue 2: Modules Not Showing

  • Contact your faculty or student advisor for module approval.

Issue 3: Payment Delays / NSFAS Not Reflecting

  • Keep your proof of payment; email the finance office for verification.

Issue 4: Missing or Rejected Documents

  • Re-upload clear, certified copies of required documents.

 

UJ Registration Payments: Financial Clearance and NSFAS

Before your registration can be fully processed, you need to obtain financial clearance from the University of Johannesburg (UJ). This confirms that your account meets the payment requirements set out for registration.

For NSFAS-Funded Students

If you’re approved for NSFAS in 2026:

  1. UJ automatically receives your NSFAS funding information.
  2. You’ll not be required to pay the minimum registration fee upfront.
  3. Your financial clearance will be done automatically — as soon as NSFAS confirms your funding.

Important: If your NSFAS status still shows as “Pending” or “Provisionally Funded,” your registration might be delayed until the final confirmation is received.

 

For Students whose fees are paid by sponsors or employers or Self-Funded, are required to pay the following minimum amounts to register: 

1. Day students (tuition fees) – All students not residing in the residences: R5 560 

2. Residence students (tuition fees and residence deposit) 

  • Students with acceptance letters from residences: R9 270 
  • Residence students who are provisionally selected/waiting for a space in residence: R5 560 

3. International registering students with temporary residence visas must make an upfront payment of 40% of the fees due to the University. Payment methods: 

4. Credit cards (E-payments) will reflect on your UJ student account immediately. Alternative payment methods used will not reflect immediately and may impact on securing a place.

Note: You must cancel your registration at the University if you decide to discontinue or withdraw from your qualification or study programme or register at another institution. Failure to do so may mean that your will be liable for fees.
