Gibela Rail Transport Consortium is inviting South African students to apply for their bursary program for the 2024 academic year. Applicants have until the 2nd of February 2024 to submit their applications.

About Gibela Rail Transport Bursary
The Gibela Rail Transport Consortium was established in 2013 as a black economic empowerment company. It is made up of Alstom, a French rail company, and Ubumbano Rail, a South African railway company. The consortium's vision is to lead the transformation of the South African railway sector and act as a catalyst in PRASA's efforts to elevate commuter rail as the preferred mode of transportation for all urban dwellers.

The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing or want to pursue undergraduate qualification in the following fields:

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GIBELA RAIL TRANSPORT BURSARY
To qualify for the Gibela Rail Transport Bursary you must meet the following requirements:
TVET College applicants:ï‚·
- Must have achieved a minimum result of level 4 for Mathematics, Science and English in Matric
- Current N3 and N4 students are encouraged to apply.
- Must be in financial need.
- Must be studying or have been accepted to study at a recognised and accredited Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution in South Africa
- Must be studying or intend on studying towards a qualification, in one of the fields listed above, in 2024.
- Must have completed Matric.
- Must demonstrate potential for academic success and have a solid academic record.
- Must be a South African Citizen
University or University of Technology applicants:
- Must be a South African Citizen
- Must be in financial need.
- Current 1st and 2nd year students are encouraged to apply.
- Must be studying or have been accepted to study at a recognised and accredited University or University of Technology in South Africa
- Must be studying or intending to study towards a qualification, in one of the fields listed above, in 2024.
- Must have achieved a minimum result of level 5 for English in Matric
- Must have achieved a minimum result of level 6 for Mathematics, Physical Science and Accounting in Matric
- Must have completed Matric.
- Must demonstrate potential for academic success and have a solid academic record.

GIBELA RAIL TRANSPORT BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
Applicants must submit the following supporting documents with their application:
- Applicant certified ID Document
- A short Curriculum Vitae
- Certified Copy of full academic record (if you are currently studying)
- Parents or Guardians proof of income: Submit latest payslips if employed or affidavit if unemployed or informally employed/ proof of grant or pension if applicable)
- Evidence of admission (Acceptance Letter) from a South African TVET, university, or university of technology.
