The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has released a new update regarding the disbursement of NSFAS 2025 allowances. This comes as important news for students who have been waiting for clarity on their NSFAS payment dates and how late confirmations will be handled.
According to NSFAS, allowances will be disbursed as follows:
NSFAS confirmed that no additional payments outside these provisions will be made.
Many students had their funding confirmed after the registration cut-off date. To address this, NSFAS will open a special submission window to allow institutions to upload outstanding registration data. Once this process is complete, affected students will begin receiving their allowances.
If your NSFAS 2025 funding was confirmed late, you can still expect to receive allowances—but they will only be paid for the specified months (October and November). This ensures that all eligible students are supported fairly, even with the delays.
In the official notice, Acting CEO Waseem Carrim thanked students and institutions for their patience and assured that NSFAS remains committed to finding sustainable funding solutions for South African students.
This NSFAS 2025 update brings relief to students who feared losing out on allowances. While delays have caused frustration, NSFAS’s intervention ensures that funding support continues for those who need it most.
If you’re a student waiting on your NSFAS payment, make sure your registration details are correctly submitted to your institution so they can be uploaded during the special submission window.
